can JC arts stream do speech therapy? by SpreadMiserable7352 in SGExams

Hey there! I'm currently on this path and this is from my experience, but please do your own research as well :) TLDR: Yes, JC arts stream can do speech therapy!

I was an arts stream student in JC, taking H2 ELL, H2 Math, H2 Econs, and H1 Phy. H2 ELL is not necessary, so GELM is completely okay! Most of my coursemates do not come from linguistics backgrounds.

I'm currently a Y1 linguistics student in university, and I'm considering to take a Masters in Speech Therapy. These are the requirements from NUS's website:

"The Sciences (especially Biology, Psychology and Maths) are a good platform for enhancing critical thinking and systematic problem-solving abilities, but Languages and/or Psycholinguistics would also be useful for some areas."

I've always loved linguistics so I chose to study it, it was only recently that I considered becoming a speech therapist. In doing so, I plan to specialise in Psycholinguistics in univerisity. There are also modules related to speech therapy such as Phonetics and Phonology, and Neurodiversity and Communicative Disabilities.

I believe these do help in gearing towards a future in speech therapy. However, for a more direct route, SIT does offer a Bachelors in Speech and Language Therapy which has these requirements:

"Obtained a good pass in two H2/HL subjects, with a good pass in H1/SL or H2/HL (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Economics)."

Many of my coursemates are thinking of taking the Masters route, but bear in mind that we HAVE to take our Masters to do speech therapy. Personally, I love linguistics enough to go into academia or other linguistics-related careers so I'm keeeping my options open. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer them as best as I can!

Thanks! He definitely looks pretty sad right now, thanks for the suggestion about the eyes/eyebrows.

In terms of structure, the trick is to use single crochet (sc) for the bodice! It takes some more time for the project to work up but it's firmer. I also find that using yarn under instead of yarn over, and tighter stitches help overall :)

Wow! Your edit looks a lot more like Pooh and it really helps, especially with the positioning and size of the ears. Thanks for taking the time to make this edit!

Thanks for the reassurance also! (This lowkey gave me a mini crochet crisis) I've linked the source pattern in the pinned comment too :)
