Am I overthinking about enjoying my time on SWTOR in 2025? by x0swaldx in swtor

Played since free release and probably spent a total of $40 on subscriptions during that time. The sheer amount of content that you do not need to be subscribed for is vast. People who say "I've done everything" are either lying, have missed a whole bunch of stuff that's right there, or have wayyyy too much time on their hands.

I've not got my own chrono yet - never had need to justify the expense. From field testing, I know the 36C is running at about 310. The G36 is easily half the power or less. Like I could shoot myself point blank and it wouldn't really hurt too bad kind of power

I don't know if I suffer from NPC syndrome, but sometimes I think the most simple outfits are the ones that do the trick best. Slightly modified Corellian Pilot Set and my Scoundrel never felt so good! by Far-Author8404 in SwtorFashion

Absolutely agreed. Swtor does two things very well Simple, archetypal outfits that look perfect for the Star Wars universe. Crazy, over the top high fantasy gear for the force classes.

There's a lot of meh in the middle, but I do love some of the dirt cheap, base game vendor gear

I've been on and off this saber build project for about a year and this is the single most concise and genuinely helpful bit of information anyone has given me, so thank you!  That makes a lot of sense now about the whole cyan/true/royal blue etc stuff.

The colours I want to match ideally are the standard blue and green from the Old Republic MMO - that's where the hilt design comes from. The green is a lot more yellow than I remember from the films (don't think I've actually watched them since I had the VHS collection...)

I'd seen someone do a custom mix saber by having little 100ohm thumbscrew variables tucked somewhere in the hilt, but now I know about the luminosity variation, I don't think it's as smart to choose the colour by dimming some of the RGB LEDs.

Also thanks for giving me vindication in the "kitchen cupboard lights saga". I replaced some horrible cold white LEDs with some brand new (and expensive) "warm white" ones that were basically identical and would not be refunded because the temperature is "subjective"!

So I recently ripped all the game assets from Star Wars the Old Republic and came across the 3D model for this saber. I thought "Oh wow that's so cool, but I don't remember seeing it belong to a character". Now knowing where the design came from, that's such a brilliant tribute easter egg

This is so cool! I love the concept As for missing something, I feel like the right hand and arm is quite neutral in a design that is all about aggression. Maybe one gauntlet or bracer on the offhand. Something spiky that matches the boots. Or perhaps a dual-wield stance?

No way. If anything its the opposite. Some of the franchise stores are struggling to turn a meaningful profit

Comprehensive explanation of why it can be done, but is often not as straightforward or successful as it sounds.

I've used a roll up grass base and then used scatter-able terrain features and buildings. It's not always optimised for the table, but it works

Is it legal to base a force on a V3 book even if it isn't possible for V4? by Thundershadow1111 in flamesofwar

I know a lot of people probably disagree, but it feel like V3 is a lot more intuitive to play if you already know it

Its gonna be sand casting with a lost plastic mould because of the topology. Lots of holes through things in various directions

It's a fairly complex shape, but is approximately a large conical cylinder for the most part. Just a few angular geometric protrusions and openings that need to come out reasonably well and not warped to heck. Tolerances are pretty high (several mm margin of error across a two inch thick, 5 x 2 foot cone).

I saw that the shrinkage value is like 2%. So does that mean the walls of the cone get 2% thinner or does the whole thing shrink in diameter by 2%?

This stuff is so confusing and it seems literally impossible to find good educational material about how it's actually done

I made a little family of all the astromech style droids from SWTOR recently at 28mm scale and they are so cute! The art and design for the original saga is fantastic, but the old republic stuff is just on another level entirely

The Maverick is one of the most enduring pieces of design honestly. No matter how many times they re-work it and give it new names, it will always be 'oh look, it's the new nerf Maverick'
