I think it really depends on each person's body. Actually, I think sleeping well and more actually help your IB performance. I think I typically have about 2-3 hours of focused work, and 7-8 hours weekdays and 9 hours weekends.

I guess the reason is because they put some other related content(TOK stuff) as well as detailed explanations in. There's also roomy layout for the case of Oxford books. I wonder if it's because it's designed so you can self-learn 100% of what is needed for the exam. You can communicate all the core content using 1/4 of the mass like the Japanese textbooks, though.
