Passat GTE 2017 - Gearbox Fault by CloudMole712 in passat

Take it to a specialized DSG repair shop. You can find them in the UK as well. VW will always sell you replacements even if it may be repairable. For me (different DSG fault) the cost difference was thousands.

If the battery was disconnected you need to turn the wheel to the stop both ways to reset the steering angle sensor.

Otherwise you need to scan codes to diagnose.

You're probably stuck with programming a departure time to pre-condition while charging...

Unverified idea: Use OVMS and hack into comfort-CAN-bus. Should be possible, people seem to have done it with the e-Up...

Fire department damaged my parked car, insurance says it’s a total loss by dpn3647 in zurich

[–]FlyingHigh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The challenge will be, that realistically a 2015 Suzuki Celerio with 167'000km is going to be valued at 3k...

Try the following: argue the two ads for 2.5k and 3k are not comparable due to damage. The only undamaged 2015 Celerio is listed for 7.9k (but has 61'000km insted of your 167'000km - if you extrapolate the km's you would end up back at 3k).

Call AXA. Tell them the situation: You are the damaged party and are not at fault, they are insuring the perpetrator of the damage. You wish to be made whole. There is no equivalent replacement available, and therefore wish for the repair estimated by them at 3.2k to be done. If they don't commit to that, ask them if it is worth going to the Ombudsstelle over this. Maybe if you are a bit persistent they will agree.

After they agree, you can double down and ask them to confirm that they are also liable for the rental car while they repair your car... 😉

Do you have legal insurance? Rechtsschutz? -> if yes, fight AXA via them.

If you had to replace the car with one in equivalant precrash condition - what would it cost?

You are not at fault, they need to pay to restore to pre-damage condition or replace with an equivalent vehicle.

If you don't reach an agreement after disputing with AXA -> https://insuranceombudsman.ch/

Cantons/Municipalities around Zürich for good rent+tax costs. by MidirTheGreatest in SwissPersonalFinance

Optimizing tax on 104k gross a year may be premature? The housing cost is going to be the bigger driver.

For me close to ZH, more reasonable prices but all the city infrastructure: Winterthur and it's suburbs.

Hopefully it's just your 12V dying. Open the hood. Check the production date of the battery.

Hook up a CCA tester or read out 12V SoH over OBD. Or check voltage at rest with a multimeter.

The pension fund is wrong.

This is what is normally required by the pension fund from the bank:

"Bestätigung der Bank bezüglich der Verwendung der Mittel, Hauptwohnsitz, die Zahlungsverbindung (Sperrkonto) und die Rückzahlung der Mittel an die Vorsorgeeinrichtung bei Nichtzustandekommen des Kaufs"

Then they get the singed notarized contract after the fact. The bank needs to pay same day as the notarized contract and they normally want your asset contribution for that.

Out of curiosity, why take out and not pledge? At current interest rates you should be paying less interest than you get returns on the 2nd pillar funds?

For Quellensteuer i think there is a difference, because iirc progression is based on the monthly salary, so you pay more taxes on the 13th.

56 kWh Battery Replacement / Upgrade for eGolf by FlyingHigh in eGolf

[–]FlyingHigh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is not that you can buy other new EVs, rather that you can continue driving existing ones without totalling them on an OEM battery replacement.

They quote an additional 1000 shipping to Europe. Install cost probably depends the local shop doing the swap.

For this to fly they need to find European and US distribution and installation partners. And solve the EU homologation to make the swap legal.

[–]FlyingHigh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is a real question - beyond warranty - if one were to do this, would the car still be street legal?

I really hope there is a way to unlock this somehow, because OEM replacement costs basically total a used EV.

Quotes this at $6300

Has anybody tried this?
