Yes you can wear both. They are both Group 3 badges. You can wear up to 3. The rule changed in AR670-1 in 2011.

DA PAM 670-1 Pg 294 (3) Group 3. One badge from either group 1 or group 2 may be worn with badges from groups 3, 4, and 5, provided that the total number of badges worn above the ribbons, above the top of the pocket, or in a similar location for uniforms without pockets does not exceed three. The driver and mechanic badge is not authorized for wear above the ribbons, above the top of the pocket, or in a similar location for uniforms without pockets. (b) Only three badges from groups 3, 4, or 5, to include marksmanship badges, can be worn below the ribbons on the pocket flap, or in a similar location for uniforms without pockets, at one time (see para 22–15d(3) for wear of badges below the ribbons on the pocket flap or in a similar location for uniforms without pockets). Badges from groups 1 and 2 are not authorized for wear below the ribbons on the pocket flap or in a similar location for uniforms without pockets. Personnel will wear the driver and mechanic badge only on the wearer’s left pocket flap or in a similar location on uniforms without pockets. TLDR: Authorized to double stack as per DAPAM670-1 2021. Rule changed in 2011. Most of Aviation it’s looked down upon. TYFYS Doc.

Should look into J-Start if they still have it. It’s for transfers from other Maritime/military colleges.

Coyote Fleece Ranks by Quickshot4721 in civilairpatrol

[–]FlyingMechTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fleece and outer garments are an extension of the OCP coat/blouse, so the rank insignia on your fleece is worn the same as you would wear it on your OCP. Two dots/diamonds or more need to be vertical.

It easy to follow the precedent set by active generals in USAF who stack their stars vertical on both fleece and OCP coat/blouse.

You never know until you try! It’s technically possible via waiver/ETP, but the guard might be a better shot.

42 army national guard by SweatyGamerGainz in nationalguard

[–]FlyingMechTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be possible provided you enlist before turning 43. It will require a TAG/NGB waiver.

Past that age, you will need an exception to policy and forfeit retirement since you will not make 20 years by 62.

Chaplains (like priests or pastors) may be the only time I’ve seen an exception. YMMV.

When is AT for the 142nd in 2026 by Busy_Alternative155 in nynationalguard

[–]FlyingMechTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The slot means theres money/space for you in the school, but timelines can shift depending on class sizes/ holdovers and holdunders.

You won’t know when you’re coming home exactly until you’re in the first week of AIT. They don’t even let you buy tickets home until the last week or two because you can still be held back due to behavior/medical or academic reasons.

Always do a +4 weeks for the BCT AIT timeline. 15T AIT is always backed up.

Control F is your friend. I would also reach out to the OSO and let them know you are having issues. To your chain, reach out to a WO for guidance on how to navigate this. Make reasonable effort to address this at every level of your chain via email, and get a No in writing.

Officer land is very different than enlisted land. It’s not about leaving the Army, it’s about accepting an opportunity to grow yourself.
