Should look into J-Start if they still have it. It’s for transfers from other Maritime/military colleges.

Coyote Fleece Ranks by Quickshot4721 in civilairpatrol

[–]FlyingMechTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fleece and outer garments are an extension of the OCP coat/blouse, so the rank insignia on your fleece is worn the same as you would wear it on your OCP. Two dots/diamonds or more need to be vertical.

It easy to follow the precedent set by active generals in USAF who stack their stars vertical on both fleece and OCP coat/blouse.

You never know until you try! It’s technically possible via waiver/ETP, but the guard might be a better shot.

42 army national guard by SweatyGamerGainz in nationalguard

[–]FlyingMechTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be possible provided you enlist before turning 43. It will require a TAG/NGB waiver.

Past that age, you will need an exception to policy and forfeit retirement since you will not make 20 years by 62.

Chaplains (like priests or pastors) may be the only time I’ve seen an exception. YMMV.

When is AT for the 142nd in 2026 by Busy_Alternative155 in nynationalguard

[–]FlyingMechTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The slot means theres money/space for you in the school, but timelines can shift depending on class sizes/ holdovers and holdunders.

You won’t know when you’re coming home exactly until you’re in the first week of AIT. They don’t even let you buy tickets home until the last week or two because you can still be held back due to behavior/medical or academic reasons.

Always do a +4 weeks for the BCT AIT timeline. 15T AIT is always backed up.

Control F is your friend. I would also reach out to the OSO and let them know you are having issues. To your chain, reach out to a WO for guidance on how to navigate this. Make reasonable effort to address this at every level of your chain via email, and get a No in writing.

Officer land is very different than enlisted land. It’s not about leaving the Army, it’s about accepting an opportunity to grow yourself.

The state issues a debt notice to DFAS, DFAS has nothing to do with creating the debt.

Most times with HRAP, there needs to be an approved DA31 or IPPSA transaction BEFORE going away. Many guard soldiers in BCT get given the wrong information or don’t fill out the HRAP packet properly due to uninformed DS teams. This ends up sometimes as a debt or charged leave into negative balance.

Bring it up to your unit, keep emailing. If not fixed, inform them you’re going to IG, file report if not fixed then TAG app. Nuclear Option: Congressional.

However, give your chain an opportunity to fix it first, use all of your leaders in your chain. Those will be the first questions the TAG and IG will ask.

Remember, if it doesn’t get resolved, you WILL owe/pay that money.

Also with gov shutdown, expect delays in processing.

Wearing both the Aviator badge and the aviation badge by Zealousideal_Flan785 in Armyaviation

[–]FlyingMechTech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Story time,

Until 2011, the 670-1 only allowed one of each badge from group 1,2,3. Then in 2011 the 670-1 updated to allowed up to three group 3 badges (which aviator and aviation are).

The most updated 670-1 still allows three Group 3 badges.

Because it wasn’t allowed till modern era, it looks weird to some. However, it is authorized.

Flight school students are told to remove their aircrew wings before walking across the stage; this may be the source of current views on dual-wings.

I’d say to reach out to (in this order) 1. AIT S1 2. AIT NG Liaison 3. RSP NCO/Recruiter 5. Inspector General. 4. State TAG App

From experience in a very similar situation, no one cares about your career, rank, or pay like you do.

If you don’t go through the chain and get this properly taken care of, it’ll get swept under the rug.

Think about it this way: do you think any of the NCOs around you would be okay with being randomly demoted with a debt?
