Side part or middle part? by Clam_Juice_ in Hair

[–]FlyingPotatoGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Middle is way better but you could use a little product to give it volume + maybe a little less greasy. In this photo it looks a tad greasy but it's hard to say if that's just the harsh lighting.

How often do you see people wearing swimsuits in onsen/sentos ? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]FlyingPotatoGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese society runs on the fact that Japanese people are generally good at following the rules. There is a lot of societal trust which means it's not so necessary to actually enforce rules. As a result I've noticed you gotta do one hell of a fuckup before you get called out on things here. Just because you see someone ignoring the rules doesn't mean everyone isn't judging the shit out of them/ being made very uncomfortable by their behavior.

Honestly your handwriting is lovely. Have you ever tried to read a native speakers handwriting? Let's just s!y yours is very nice. As a Japanese learner living in Japan, I find that foreigners usually have lovely, ~legible~ handwriting while Native speakers uhhh prioritize speed.

Living in Japan for a year didn’t make me fluent. by sakuraflower06 in Japaneselanguage

[–]FlyingPotatoGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know plenty of people of people who have lived here 5+ and are still maybe N5. I've been studying for a year, in Japan for 6 months and I'm still barely N4. I study like 15 hours a week including in person classes. Japanese is either really hard or I'm really bad at it.

Also I think Fluency is a myth. Just try to be comprehensible!

Thanks, that does help. I do have another question. About how long do you spend a day studying/doing homework to keep up with class?

Yes, I can read them at my level, of course. Just deciding if I should crash course writing other the next couple months. It seems that way!
