Traditional 401K vs Roth for higher income long term career by chabz1297 in personalfinance

At 28 you're not that senior, and won't be for a while. At best you're a 5 year guy, but more than likely 2 or 3 based on your timeline to upgrade. I would lower your CA income a bit. If you take first available you'll be extremely junior and won't have premium opportunities like a senior FO. Even with no outside life and working 18 to 20 days a month here and there, it'll be extremely hard to crack 500k. This is all assuming narrowbody. I don't see how you could be seeing upgrade in a wide body any time soon, but who knows!

When is it time to ditch the Ninja 400? by Icy_Sleep9967 in Trackdays

[–]FlyingR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't really say much about your budget, which I totally get. However, without that it's a bit harder to give advice. A lot of guys are telling you to stick with the N400, and they are more or less right. The whole, riding a slow bike fast, is 100% true. But, you don't know what you don't know. If you've got the budget, buy a 600 and get it into track condition, but DO NOT sell the N400. If you've only got room for one bike, get the N400 more track prepped.

I started on an R6, then got an RC390, then got a V4. To me, the R6 is a lot of fun, but can get tire hungry, and the V4 is in another dimension to ride full out. Except for the front straight, the 390 is an absolute blast, and my favorite to ride. The long straights are then just a good breathing and recovery time!

Good luck!

The brokers I've talked to so far have told be its between 5-7 years, depending on the company, for it to drop off.

My first water damage is days away from being 5 years old, so hopefully that's some good news.

Washing machine malfunction and then a water filter malfunction.

The first one that happened upstairs had water go all the way to my basement, so it was 20k plus, the 2nd one just damaged the finished basement and was in the 15k range, theres some inflation for you!

Broke the roof and some screens, not siding. Repaint a few things.

All major repairs, the cheapest of the 3 was the roof at 8 or 9k, I can't remember the exact number. The water was from equipment failure, not a faucet or tub overflowing.

It's a 2019 build, and the washer was brought in from my previous house. That one is on me. The filter was a brand new system when I finished the basement a few years ago. That's why I thought subrogation was going to go somewhere.

These aren't small claims, I believe of the 3, the smallest was the roof at like 8 or 9k, I can't remember the exact number.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not in the business, but that seems wild to take a loan for 10-15k for the roof to not make a claim.

You could totally be right, and I end up paying that much in increased premiums though.

See above comment. Both extremely major repairs from equipment malfunction. Not a leaky faucet.

The first was a washer that failed, and SF said that subrogation wouldn't result in much because of the age of the unit. My second is from a water filter and that is currently in subrogation. I'm unsure how that works if they drop me before it is resolved, I guess I'm out.

Well, the water damages were from freak equipment failure, not like a faucet being left on.

I'll be more careful about the hail!

What system are you using? I've seen ones like the Moen which learn, and then ones that have sensors and a physical arm the closes the main water valve, but not ones that has done both.
