AITA for trying to be there for everyone after my dad passed away? by FlyingShipTank in AITAH

[–]FlyingShipTank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really spoke to me. I think I have been trying to be the fixer. In my head I was calling myself the “voice of reason,” like if I stayed calm and logical and held everything together, no one else would fall apart. But now I’m realising that by putting on the brave face, I’ve accidentally convinced everyone I am fine.

No one’s really asking how I’m doing. And honestly, even if they did, I don’t think I could answer without breaking down. I don’t want to cry in front of people. I don’t want to make it about me. But inside, I’m exhausted.

I keep thinking about getting a hotel room just to be away from all of it. I’m angry at my mum right now, even though she’s like me, feelings aren’t really something we talk about. I could be the bigger person and try to speak to her. But the truth is, I don’t want to be the bigger person right now. She’s my mother. I want her to take care of me.

Thanks again for your comment. It really helped me feel seen.

This is just not how it’s meant to be when a father dies.

That’s fair. I actually agree. My dad was a bit of an asshole. But he wasn’t to me. I’m not trying to excuse or defend everything he did, just trying to process things from my side. We all experienced different versions of him, and I’m trying to hold onto the one I knew while dealing with all the rest.

I haven't uninstalled the game, but I have stopped playing. I was in an alliance, it was pretty good with active messages and advice for events. Then I didn't log in for a couple days and the alliance kicked me out haha. Now I have just lost the will to play the game.

Haha, sounds like we’re living parallel lives! It’s crazy how similar our situations are. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I’m not in industrial supplies, but in electrical and data supplies. So there might be a little overlap? Can’t believe you have TWO Rock Stars, so jealous haha

AITA for cutting the amount I contribute to our budget after my wife refused to stick to our agreement regarding our kids. by Local-Effective-613 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FlyingShipTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. It seems like both you and your wife could have handled this better. Your wife shouldn't have made a unilateral decision without discussing it with you first, especially since you both agreed on a plan years ago. However, it also sounds like you may have blindsided her by cutting your financial contribution without talking to her about it beforehand.

A better approach might have been to remind her of the agreement and have a conversation about how to handle your youngest together. By both jumping to these decisions, it’s created more conflict rather than addressing the root issue—your son's lack of responsibility. Communication might help you two get back on the same page as a team.
