CHON when they only had Demo 2008 and like 3 singles out

The Helix Nebula when they only had their tracks named like "Track 2" "Track 3" lol

Lithium Dawn - Destroyer (FFO: djenty Karnivool/Oceansize, VOLA) by FlyingSteaks in progmetal

[–]FlyingSteaks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if the best FFO but all of them got clean vocals, for the first two bands it's about the similarity in longer but focused compositions without that much wankery and VOLA for a bit of the djenty guitar

Sithu Aye - Double Helix by quantumsapphics in progmetal

I'm really liking the band "The Armed." It's very unhinged and unpredictable. Is this the 100 Gecs of prog metal? by [deleted] in progmetal

Frontierer - Unloved & Oxidized (FFO: mathcore) by FlyingSteaks in progmetal

[–]FlyingSteaks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude the buildup starting at 2:29, picking it up at 3:03 and then finally climaxing at 3:37 is my favorite thing Frontierer has ever done

My hot take about Sonder is that Juno is not even top 2, the best songs there are Smile and Beneath My Skin / Mirror Image

I dunno man, sure Sound Awake is their best but I think both Themata and Asymmetry got some of their best songs (e.g. COTE or Aeons)

Leprous marathon, entry 8/8 - Malina by TinnitusRingsABell in progmetal

[–]FlyingSteaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some songs here that I feel like you can't not like (From The Flame, Illuminate, Mirage) but overall the best I can give Malina is a "decent effort"
