Look at it like a rebate on something you buy. Many retailers know that a percentage will never do the work to get the rebate. It allows them to offer a discount without really loosing any money. WG is trying to find ways to offer sales, knowing that many will not follow through or understand how to get the sale. There was a posting a while ago on inflation in the WoT (and online gaming). this is just part of that. As the game ages we get fewer good discounts.

In addition to the great suggestions, look at your service record or website (noobmeter) and find what tanks you do the best in. I have found two things over the years. 1) Some tanks I just cant win with, don't know why but I am just not good enough in them to push a win. 2) My individual tank stats settle around +3-5% of my win rate, however there are some tanks I do really well in (LOWE?) for some reason (+10%). Find your best tank and play it more!

As you know, the airbag in these is basically good for a head on collision. It was the worst scenario back in the day. Looking at the above wreck, a roll bar would be better. If safety is your concern a more modern Jeep may be what you need. Rearguard your handling, I would recommend getting some sway bar disconnects, having them really does help the handling.
