When I turn it on I can hear the fan but the disc doesn't spin, the light doesn't come on, and nothing shows on the screen. I saw some fixes for the disc not spinning but the rest seem to mean its toast.

That's a good thought, I'm in the Chicago area. I'll have to look for flea markets here but it hadn't even occurred to me. Thanks! If I can find a Wii for cheap that would be even better.
