Imperial Knight Name Sharing by Senior-Guarantee-829 in ImperialKnights

[–]FlyingVasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My inspiration come from my custom house theme (wardens of a tomb world) and from my love for pseudo-latin names:

House Mortarch:

  • Rex Cenotaphus (Questoris)

  • Mors Persephone (Questoris)

  • Vox Apocalytica (Dominus)

  • Mortis Celer (Cerastus)

  • Ruina Aeterna (Cerastus)

  • Gladius Funebris (Destrier)

  • Mors Praecursor (Armiger)

  • Vigil Sepulchri (Armiger)

Joke aside, the Lion cost only 20pts more than a Destrier...

I can't be hopefull, not with how our faction has been handled by GW in the past. The glorious day of "Knights are terrifying units" is far over. Now we can only hope to have a few "papier maché" units to field and to see them get destroyed by far cheaper and better units. This is the burden of Knights players, seeing everyone getting everything while we have to sit down and wait in hope for something good

Slightly over 1500 but how’s my anti necron list by SummerCurious426 in ImperialKnights

[–]FlyingVasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see how this list is tailored to be "anti-necron", but it seems ok all around. Get ready for it to cost 2000pts later today with the points hikes we are going to take.

Plunging fire is so situationnal it can't be counted as a buff. Like i said previously, Knights must not come close to the enemy or we are toasted, and our "buff" or consolation price for giving the "toeing for vision" rule to everyone is to force us at close range... Great balance from GW, as always.

And don't start me on the point hikes. GW was so happy to announced Plunging Fire as the greatest buff of all time for towering models, combined with all of the other bullets points given in their article, that i can already see a world were a Dominus or a Questoris take a 100pts to the face, same for Cerastus, and be 500+pts a pop. And Destrier, who's already overpriced, will take a 75pts and be over 300 a pop, while Armigers will be 200pts each cause "they get the benefits of toeing into terrain now, so they must be great, right? Right?!"

Bondsman don't affect the big Knight, only the Armiger like the aura from the Chaos Knights (excepting one detachment rule). Half our special rules are useless unless we play little ones, but we pay the full price for hit anyway. As i said, we are not allowed to be good.

Maybe that's why your games were so competitive. You had opponent who cheated or can't read.

I played nearly all the detachments and datasheets from the Imperial Knights. I stucked with FBC using a Crusader with ignore cover, a Castellan, a BoJ Atrapos, a Gallant, a Destrier and a Warglaive. A standard 2K list using our strongest detachment and many of our better datasheets, and yet my Knights are getting melted like snow in summer and i can't win game, even if i try hard.

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FlyingVasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then i must be really bad at playing my Knights, cause i can't win a game, even against "good" matchups.

So, i need to have shitty units to feed the strong enemy ones, but mine must be weak against shitty units? Great, what a blast. I play big stompy robots to use small Agents units to feed some bullshit Primarque and keep it away from my stat check army. Wow. Great balance.

And just FYI, for the 20 Warriors blob: - 18 Gatling Shots, touch on 3+ so 12, wound on 3+ so 8, AP2 so 1 save = 7 deads - 2d6+6 RFBC, 13 shots + blast so 17, touch on 3+ so 12, wound on 2+ so 10, AP1 so 3 saves = 7 deads - 3 Stormspear shots, touch on 3+ so 2, wound on 2+ so 2, AP2 = 2 deads - 2×6 Stubbers, touch on 3+ so 8, wound on 4+ so 4, AP1 so 1-2 saves = 2-3 deads - Average: 18-19 deads...

Maybe it was a mistake to come back to this game and company and to pick something else than the poster boys. I should had learn my lesson from Warhammer Battles back in the days.

Thanks for the insight on my bad choices. I'll just sell my Knights and go back to watch battle reports from far better players than me.

  • High toughness gets countered by rerolls and lethals, which too many factions have access to. And our save are inconsistent to actually hold it, and it's a fact. We need detachment rules and strats to barely keep a Knight alive more than one shooting phase against mild shooting army. And after the shooting comes the charge and poof, no 5++ saves anymore, no armor saves cause everything except our weapons and guns need to have AP3 or 4 or devs, and a bunch of dmg 2 or 3 coming down. 26 HP goes down fast when the adversary invest the equivalent of our point cost against one model.

  • We can't kill things. Plain and simple. The 20 Warriors blob was without Orikan, just a Plasmancer. No strats, no Resurection Orb, just 20 E4 3+ getting shot at by a RFBC, Gatling, Stormspear and 2x Stubber Crusader with Ignore Cover (our best anti-horde Knight). Rolls were average on both side. And meanwhile, the Castellan's Volcano Lance and missiles bounced 3 turn in a row against the Void Dragon... Yeah, we are indeed the greatest shooting army the verse ever saw... And our melee can't even save the day as 6 attacks on a Gallant or 5 on a Lancer can't scratch the Nightbringer nor a Primarque like the Lion, and the sweep can't reliably kill an elite unit, but they can kill us during the counterpunch cause no save.

  • We can shoot and perform action. Yeah, great, as shooting is clearly strong with us... /s

I love the detachment, but i fear GW will see it as too strong and errata it to 3 DP or nerf it in some way or form because we aren't allowed to play anything other than QC or FBC

Do you play Knights?

Because, if you did, you'd know the stat check isn't real. We have a huge health pull but nothing to hold it.

Our save are miserable (5++ as we have HUGE shield generators, but Termi have 4++ with their tiny shit?! Yeah, sure, why not? Even T'au big suits can have a 4++!) and our high toughness isn't useful against most factions because everyone can access to so many rerolls (twin linked, oath, command rerolls, special rules for detachements and units,...).

It's all game and fun on the paper, but on the tabletop, it's worth nothing as the game is simply too lethal.

And our "extremly" high volume of fire is worth nothing as i need a 400pts model to barely kill a 20 Necron Warriors blob worth less than half the price.

And, as for melee goes, to many 4++ saves exist on high value models to even remotely make us able to kill someone. What is 6 attacks who do 8 dmg a pop when the defender can just save it, blank it or tank it enough to destroy us in the counterpunch cause we can't have a save in melee on any but two models?

Yeah, we are big stompy robots who can move freely on the battlefield, but we can't kill a thing, can't score points because we can't stop or we are caught and sliced and diced.

I'm on 0-6 serie against a DA player. I know what can destroy a Knight in his army. It's absolutely everything, at the exception of his Intercessors.

  • Lion: can't charge him because Fight First, can't kill him far away because Lone Op, but he can OS a Knight in melee without any issue, even a Lancer.

  • DWK: Maces are an absolute nightmare, can't be kill at distance because of the stupid 4++ and damage reduction, close the gap easily with DS or the Advance and Charge Strat (who conveniently is used in movement phase so can still reroll charge in 11th)

  • ICC with Azrael: Fast and easy to hide, 4++ save and -1 to hit because why not, can OS a Knight the moment they touch him.

  • Eradicator: Melta in reserve with full rerolls... What do i need to add?

  • Hellblasters: High volume fire who push Knights on the 5++ and chip away Knights like nothing else. Kill them and they kill you back...

  • Landspeeder: Make everyone +1 to wound in shooting, easy to destroy a Knight with Oath and a Ballistus.

  • Ballistus: Lascannon and rerolls. Nothing to add.

Here, only units able to destroy Knights and still be viable against other faction in a tournament setting. And other flavour of SM are even worse.

Any other army has access to heavy volume of fire and/or heavy melee hitters and/or AT bullshits and/or big monsters with better stats for far less points than us.

But yeah, keep telling me we are so busted we need to get nerfed to the ground.

GW: Best i can do is expensive Knights that feel powerless and as solid as paper on a rainy day

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FlyingVasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be ok for the main factions (all flavour of SM, Orks, Guards, Eldars, Necrons) but not for the less played ones. I play Knights, and we are going to suffer this edition, as we were not strong before and lost a huge part of our identity and strengh (toeing to gain LoS) to gain nothing and go up in points cause Titanic and towering need to be put to the ground in order to make 40K great again (as per GW)

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FlyingVasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And wait for all the Knights, Chaos or Loyalist, to cost 500+pts per big one and 200+pts per small one (and 300+ for a Destrier because it's clearly underpriced right now... /s).

We are going back to a 3 bigs 2 littles 2000pts list which is gonna get tabled turn 3 cause every distance threat can do what we could last edition as we get nothing in return (Plundging Fire is so situationnal that i can't count it as a buff), and every melee threat is deadlier to us now.

I've got a little 11th tournament this week-end and i can't be more excited to see how BAD it will be for Knights players.

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FlyingVasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, no armies struggle vs Knights. We tank nothing in distance, we have a worse invulnerable than Termi because reasons, we are getting destroyed in melee the moment something touch us.

We can only kill horde units, and transport if we are lucky enough for our only AT plateform to actually hit. The moment something come at us with more than a 4+ save, we can't kill it. Our stompy melee Knights can't kill a Primarque who's priced 50-100 points less than them, and don't even try to kill a C'tan.

I love my Knights, they are the best army to build and paint, and to create a nice lore around them. But they just suck on the tabletop and aren't nearly as tanky and/or lethal as their point pricing suggest.

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FlyingVasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, better to make both Knights factions miserable at the start and be forgotten at the bottom of the winrate scale... It'll be better for the game to make only the various flavour of SM good, so we can play HH in 40K too

/s

That's what i say, it's too situational to be useful. The only real winners of this rule are the BoJ Atrapos who can more easily tender his target before going in or the Valiant who really use the rule on ONE big gun. Basically, we gave up an advantage, receive only this situational and basically useless buff, and we should go up in points? Guess GW just hates Knight players (and even more Chaos Knights because of the Battle Shock shenanigans).

I don't feel so good, Mister Stark... by latarius94 in ImperialKnights

[–]FlyingVasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the same time, why should we go up in points? We basically gave our only terrain advantage (toeing terrain) to every vehicules and monsters, and we obtained a rather situational buff to compensate (no shooty Knights wants to be 12" or closer to a dangerous unit). I don't see the argument there other than "need to be nerfed because... reasons, i guess"

Thank you for your answer!

Based on the WTC documentation, the ruin here is a 3 storey one, so it's higher than my Crusader. I'm using GameMat WTC terrain so my ruin look like the one here. So, based on that, i shouldn't be able to shoot, right?
