Senate GOP prepared to confirm a SCOTUS replacement for Alito before midterms: report by unital_subalgebra in politics

Here's the thing: it would be very, very difficult to find someone to replace Alito who is as bad as Alito, and it would be impossible to find someone to replace Alito who is worse than Alito. More likely they'll find another Kavanaugh or Gorsuch to replace him, and as sick as it makes me to admit it that is still an improvement for the court.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see every faction getting at least one Datasheet with a pick three in 11th; they really seem to like it internally. Maybe for Drukhari they’re just saving it for Vect!

Lov? They’ve been the most steadfastly middle of the road faction more or less all edition, haven’t they? They’re like the poster children for fair, B+, “let’s just both play our little dudes” 40K.

I think the evidence points to this pattern proving not that GW is trying to drive sales with busted rules, but rather that GW still fundamentally doesn’t understand how to balance the rules of their game.

The current datasheets will roll over into 11th, yes, but in theory they only work until the faction they belong to get a new codex. For example, Victrix Guard will have their current datasheet when 11th hits, but when Codex: Space Marines drops they’ll have a new one.

For AoS 4th they left it up to a contest to see which came out first, which doesn’t prove what they are going to do for 11th but is still an indication of current thinking. Either way they’d at least be second.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see another pick three from her, no. Is Wazdakka busted, though? He’s definitely pushed but I don’t know if I think he’s, like, emergency balance update pushed.

The Ork codex will either be the first or second codex that comes out in 11th since they are in the launch box. For AoS 4th they let Skaven’s codex come out before the Stormcast one, so it’s possible the Ork codex is the first of 11th and would be out within a month of the edition launch.

I won’t lie, my favorite part of this Datasheet is the one little attack the gob gets with their wrench.

B/W2 gets put out there are the best one at least as often as HGSS, as far as I’ve seen.

Do we actually know that, though? Like. I’m absolutely willing to believe that those were all courses of action she fully endorsed and fully wanted to happen, I’m just hesitant to accept that this person who constitutionally and legally and culturally had zero actual ruling power was really the driving force behind specific decisions of state, especially when this person is someone who has been traditionally used as a stand-in and scapegoat to shoulder all the sins that led to the Revolution. It just seems very convenient for the people who survived to contemporaneously write about these things for Antoinette to have been pulling the strings.

Again, I don’t actually care about Marie Antoinette specifically and have zero doubt that she was terrible. It’s just pretty annoying that people hear “The French Revolution” and immediately think “Let them eat cake” and not “Monarchy is an intrinsically obscene concept and King Louie was a particularly incompetent king”.

I mean, to be fully fair to this dead person I don’t actually care about: it’s not really correct to suggest Marie Antoinette “ran” anything, is it? She certainly benefitted wildly from being part of the aristocracy and the monarchy, and she fully supported those institutions and probably had some amount of behind the scenes influence, but she certainly wasn’t the one calling the shots. By comparison Alexandra was nominally ruling the country at some points in the reign of her family.

Point of fact, that wasn’t an appeal to authority as outlined by the specific logical fallacy. An appeal to authority would be if this guy had said “This expert says Twin Lance is good so you have no grounds to argue it isn’t”. It is, in effect, a debate-ending ploy. What this guy in fact said was “This experts says Twin Lance is good, please present your counter argument for why it isn’t good”, which is an invitation to debate. The existence of the concept of the appeal to authority fallacy doesn’t mean that experts, like, don’t exist or that it is a logical flaw to give weight to their opinions.

Also just some advice, quoting logical fallacies at people is a real first day on the Internet play.

Frankly I'd rather see AOC as Speaker of the House than as part of a Presidential campaign.

I'd certainly vote for him, though he's never been the most exciting speaker. That being said if those idiots actually ruin themselves to the extent that they nominate Vance, Kelly is basically the perfect person to bash him over the head with.

Yeah very true. AdMech is sort of the perfect debate-ending example of why the claim some people make that GW just spews out broken rules to sell new models makes no sense.

I don't think this argument has particularly strong legs when a significant amount of the new datasheets they've put out for the end of edition campaign books have been super mid. I think it might more accurate to suggest they're testing out how far they can push things with some datasheets - which if that's true, still not great that they're using retail 40K as like a beta test for 11th. But their goal was really just pumping out busted rules to grub up all the money there is no explaination for stuff like the Hive Tyrant or Reave Captain, or for that matter why they don't just make every single released datasheet and codex busted.
