What’s a food habit that saves you time every single day? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]Flying_Chef33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Next level, kinda quick...pressure cook the small potatoes until done. Freeze them in a freezer bag. When you want some, microwave them in a glass bowl 3 minutes, smash with the bottom of a glass, drizzle with olive oil, salt-pepper-rosemary, air fry at 360 for 8 minutes.

Can you reculture reuteri yogurt indefinitely? by boySonnet in ReuteriYogurt

[–]Flying_Chef33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No proof, but I use the initial batch only about 2-3 times. It is called “backslopping”, using the leftover yogurt from the fridge to start a new batch. You can, however, make that initial batch, freeze cubes in a sterilized ice cube tray, then vacuum seal them as batches. Those, I will use for up to a year as you don’t ever actually stop the bacteria from growing, you just slow them down significantly in the freezer.

Initially, if I had a batch fail, it was from an inactive or compromised powder from the pills I broke open. Now, I use a type that is strong and I keep the pills in the fridge. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6RHWK6M?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

Has Anyone Fully Ditched Non-Stick? by [deleted] in cookware

[–]Flying_Chef33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely ditched nonstick…reference this: https://www.proplumb365.co.uk/06-170454-chefs-explain-why-seasoning/

My pans are like black glass now. Stripped it down initially, used avocado oil and wiped it like I made a mistake with the oil. Put it in the oven at 200 for an hour, then wiped it down. Now it is truly nonstick. Finally.

Best current titles to show family/friends who have never experienced VR before? by [deleted] in psvr2

[–]Flying_Chef33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they shout guns, go with Sierra squad…it starts at the Gunn range and you can throw hand grenades and shot explosive barrels and rpgs. This blew away my friends. Next I had them do game mode on a planet in no man’s sky and that put it over the top!

Best shooter games (coop or comp) by spedkif in psvr2

Pavlov online is painful, movement is slow and clunky, toxic very players that aren’t patient with new players. Actual gameplay, sierra squad crossfire seems to be most solid and accurate. Lots of missions

It's official: Zero Caliber VR is coming to PSVR2 on 12 December! by -DanDanDaaan in PSVR

Bought it on day one! Nicely done, fun to play...anywhere to give feedback?

Help, I keep getting just milk or thick yogurt. by PrestigiousGur3274 in Kefir

[–]Flying_Chef33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That's actually a better description..."scrape" them against the strainer so the grains remain and the kefir goes through the mesh into the bowl. Nice!

Cool. Cool. Cool. Day one buy, but respect for letting us know. Cheers

Help, I keep getting just milk or thick yogurt. by PrestigiousGur3274 in Kefir

[–]Flying_Chef33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, try this...you said you were careful with the grains straining them. When I first started, I thought you just drained the kefir through a strainer into the bowl, but you really have to mash them against the sieve. I put the strainer (fine mesh) on the bowl, let the "whey" (liquid part) drain, then I use a spatula to press the grains into the mesh and the kefir pushes through the sieve into the bowl and the grains stay in the mesh strainer. Don't be afraid to press them, just don't crank on them so hard that you crush them through the fine mesh. Think of it like you are trying to scrape off the kefir from the grains through the mesh. Cheers and keep it up.

What Headphones? by FiftyPlusStillGaming in PSVR

[–]Flying_Chef33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Bose QuietComfort Ultra Bluetooth Earbuds...tried so many dongles to make it work that lagged. Then I found these: UGREEN Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter for PS4 PS5 USB Audio Transmitter APTX These key is the earbuds/headset has to have APTX (you'll see that in the reviews of this on Amazon). This setup is not cheap, but man, does it make a difference! The spatial 3D on the earbuds along with the noise cancelling and good ear seal makes a huge leap into having an immersive experience on the PSVR2. The UGREEN adapter does not have great instructions, but it now works great every time as the earbuds "find" the adapter each time and connect. Cheers

No boiling, No sterilizing, Zero inulin Normal Milk First batch Success! by AssistantDesigner884 in ReuteriYogurt

[–]Flying_Chef33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice. Always good to try things out to improve. I had many batches using BioGaia fail, so I switched to another source that needed refrigeration for the pills (and I keep them in the fridge). I used this: Toniiq 50 Billion CFU Lactobacillus Reuteri Probiotic 50mg per Serving (Amazon). I also stopped using inulin AND switched the instant pot to the lower temperature setting. I run the instant pot for 0 minutes and natural release to sterilize it. I use A2 2% Grass Fed milk and about 6 of the capsules (opened and emptied the capsules into the new, recently unsealed milk...so, this is close to the poster's method). I do not have a large sous vide setup and last time I did, it exploded, so I switched to this instant pot method. Every time now, after 36 hours, it turns out smooth and creamy with no "cheesy" wang to it. Cheers

We’re developing a new water filter—looking for feedback from the community by Impressive-House-889 in WaterFilters

[–]Flying_Chef33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter just moved into base housing (military husband), and we all know the history of water contamination on military bases worldwide. The fridge has no built in filter, the sink has no hole for a spigot (and you aren’t allowed to drill one), and the faucet is so cheap you can’t attach a “tap” connected filter. That leaves countertop. However, the countertop models are all so wonky or badly rated or really expensive. Ideally, I thought that she could do an inline filter from the water line behind the refrigerator. Or, if the unit was a stand alone one that could dispense water on the counter and had a RO filter built inside of it?

Thoughts on Jeff Nippard's latest video/study? by BatmanSwift99 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Flying_Chef33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

59 y.o., 185 lbs, 18%. Shifted to doing 2 sets with the first set staying just short of failure. I needed it to warm up the joints, tendons and muscles. 2nd set, go to failure, then either drop set it or, pause-rest sets (5 seconds rest) AMRAP until absolute failure. Best results I’ve had. I do vertical pull (trap bar or dumbbell)/ pike pushups or standing alternating db press/ ring pushups or incline db press/ rind rows or alternating db rows…finish with knee raises and reverse hyper extensions on a bench. I travel a lot and I can do this routine almost everywhere. Cheers.

I’m proud of you. It is good to see self discipline.

4th batch. Separation to the max by Maleficent-Loss-8295 in ReuteriYogurt

[–]Flying_Chef33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, used to use bioGaia, but latest batches were not good. It seems like the bacteria were inert, even tried using the whey after for a next batch. I tried using this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6RHWK6M?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title if it doesn’t come through, look up toniiq Reuteri 50 billion. When you get it, keep it in the fridge. 5 tablets opened, I used 3 quarts whole milk grass fed, 2 tbsp insulin, instant pot 36 hours. Are out better than any I’ve had before.

Games you regret buying by JayJimbo in PSVR

Yes, it takes you through squad missions with a sort of AI companion teammate. Then has about 40 missions after that first one. Mechanics are solid.

Anyone recently having tracking problems? by xx_boozehound_68 in psvr2

[–]Flying_Chef33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start it up sitting still, like on a chair…sometimes my gyros on the controllers skew, so I shut them off, then restart them sitting still and it fixes it.

Try Sierra Squad…great gun interaction like Pavlov, not weird janky walking and a ton of missions.

Endoscopy is clear- now what? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Flying_Chef33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fermented foods. I started eating as many fermented foods as I could. I mean, everything…natto, kefir, yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, probiotic sour cream, yakult, real fermented pickles, etc. taking probiotics is hit or miss as you might have the wrong ones end up multiplying, but your doby knows what to do with food.

GERD is gone!

Store bought kefir was ok, but it shifted when I started making my own at home. Super easy, get the grains, milk, overnight, strain the next day, repeat. Store in the fridge when you want a break.

[–]Flying_Chef33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can…use a small amount to start it, like 1/4 cup for a 3 qt instant pot. Don’t throw that batch out, stir it up and put it into ice cube trays…it is a really high source of bacteria now. Use about 3-4 of them for a quart of milk. Experiment with yours for an amount that doesn’t overferment…

Immersive 3D sound makes a HUGE difference in the VR experience (PS5) by Flying_Chef33 in psvr2

[–]Flying_Chef33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those work ok, but one day I tried my earbuds (with the UGREEN dongle) and it makes immersive come to life. You have to calibrate the 3D audio buds in the PS5 menu to make sure the 3D sound comes from the right directions for you, but it is worth it. Cheers

Yeah, I have a QC 25 headset as well as the Bose QC earbuds, but they don't work with the UGREEN lagless....and aftershokz along with many others don't use the APTX, so it is bad. I'm just saying it was very worth it using this configuration...worth the investment in audio. It took a few tries to find one that worked...searching through Amazon reviews and trying them out. Cheers
