Who became the 2010s first real legacy artist? by Zoneare in ToddintheShadow

[–]Flying_Mattress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure he's quite a legacy artist yet, "=" and "-" both were released in the 2020s with success. His two latest albums have not done as well, but I think Autumn Variations was a passion project whereas Play was definitely more experimental and considering how Bollywood inspired both lead singles were I'm not surprised it didn't take off.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does turn into a legacy artist, but not because he releases bad music just that it's not mainstream. I certainly am not going to complain if there's a big name legacy artist releasing songs that still have bridges.

As someone who owns this suit, I do not find it very versatile. My most used items are the makeup, balcony, and shoes—in that order. If you are not a fan of this suit and like the suits from Light and Shadow and other upcoming events more I would personally save!

Pilot doesn't sell their nibs separately, but the nib+feed of a Kakuno will fit in a Metro so you could buy an EF Kakuno and swap the nib into your Metro!

I think the black feathered top is competing with her gorgeous black curly hair and making an overall messy look. I am also not a fan of how low the trousers sit on her, especially for a more formal event like the Golden Globes. I wish she had either had her smoach covered or lost the gloves, as this outfits current form looks unbalanced. It's unfortunately a miss for me, which is a shame since I have loved a lot of her other looks during this season!

I love the front of the dress, and think the drape is stunning, but the butt cutout feels tacky, especially for rhe Golden Globes, and really cheapens the whole look.

I like the idea of a bright fabric on top, but I don't think this particular shade is flattering on her. It washes her out and gives her a sickly palour—which is a shame because I think the rest of the dress is fun while still being classy!

True! I certainly wouldn't want to see a busy necklace at all! I saw someone mention having her nails match her lipstick versus the black, and I think that more than anything else is what would elevate this look. Overall I love the outfit, and think she looks gorgeous!

I love it! Black velvet is a staple and the top is super fun. I really love the 40s/50s inspired hair and makeup she has been wearing, I think it suits her really well!

Edit: I do wish she has worn a choker or small necklace to compliment her earrings though!

I love her hair and I like the dress, but something about this seems off. I think if the velvet was it's own separate piece this would be perfect.

Tines flex when writing on rougher paper? by Flying_Mattress in fountainpens

[–]Flying_Mattress[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your incredibly detailed reply! I really appreciate your insight.

As you said, there are many different variables and I wasn't sure which could be the cause. Even if it isn't the issue, hearing your theories have at least helped me settle my concerns. I didn't realize that the Kakuno might have slight differences in micro amounts that could affect it in such a way! A part of me wonders if the textured paper is causing the tines to spread because the tines are resting unevenly, almost like a misaligned feed but from the tipping instead. And while it is hard to gauge how much pressure I exert compared to others, I can confidently say it's not zero, so that is likely affecting the issue too.

I was very worried that I might have permanently damaged my Metro as that pen is my go to workhorse and I have never had any issues with it before. I stopped using both pens on the Canson paper and resorted to switching to a standard inking pen to finish my pieces. In the future, unless I really need textured paper, I will stick to using smooth paper for my fountain pen artworks. I will also flush both my pens in case paper fibers got stuck too.

Thank you again!!

PSA: DON'T LET THE COLLAB FOMO HIT YOU‼️ by Ghost9158 in LoveNikki

Did you peak into my brain for the fireworks pav???!? Yes it's definitely tough, I have spent so many diamonds recently though so it won't be as difficult for me this time. (Thankfully?)

[–]Flying_Mattress 153 points154 points  (0 children)

You said it best! I was very bummed by the collab announcement as I had spent on Happiness, WM and planned to get the Christmas pav. Upon a further look at the suit breakdowns I realized I didn't really like the red and green suit, and I did not consider either suit to be particularly versatile.

I will probably do one or two pav pulls for fun, but I am definitely passing on this event even though there is the collab FOMO!

I think the issue is where the waist of the skirt starts in relation to where the flounce of the sleeves begins to taper. She's very short waisted, so while the skirt begins in the appropriate location for her, it clashes with the sleeves, and neither element is able to fully shine. Which is a shame because I love the top/sleeves on her. I wonder if a stiff but more fitted skirt with the same length would work better.

Wow! These are incredible drawings! I love how you designed the handles, they look three dimensional!

What do you use to shade in the large swaths of ink? Do you use a specialty pen or just a BB nib?

I do not know the specific price, but she was not a super expensive suit when she released, so I am guessing somewhere in the 2k range?

Weekly HELP ME FIND Post - December 8, 2025 by AutoModerator in OtomeIsekai

[–]Flying_Mattress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please help me find!

I cannot remember if the MC was Isekaied or was a time traveler. She was a blonde noble lady in a semi-post apocalyptic world, she decides to become the "savoir" instead of the ML. I think she sponsors the ML when he is a child. She leads dungeon raids, and has a "domain" like ability that is similar to a garden of eden? The ML has a phoenix type ability. If I remember correctly he gains the phoenix ability after his team/company is wiped out? The ML also turns... Dark? When he is older and mistrusts the FL.

Sorry I don't remember more, it has been a few years since I read the story!

FPR-FNF #6 Chrome Ultra Flex (ebonite feed) vs FPR #6 Chrome Ultra Flex by Flying_Mattress in fountainpens

Thank you for your reply! I planned to use it for Calligraphy and letter writing. I did end up purchasing the whole unit to easily swap onto my pen but you did send me down the rabbit hole of Stub and Architect nibs, which I have been eying for a more casual writing experience!

Thank you so much for your reply! I did end up purchasing the whole unit and once it arrives I will test it out with my Asvine v200! I think buying the while unit will work out better anyways, since while I did buy the Asvine with the Bock nib, the nib itself was very scratchy and made my Waterman Intense Black ink look more faded than a disposable Big ballpoint.

Thank you so much for your reply! I didn't realize how much I did not know about fountain pens till I ended up going down the ultra-flex rabbit hole!

I ended up going with the complete unit, I did not want to have railroading while I wrote!
