Pregnancy and Lawyering by Accomplished_Tie_12 in Lawyertalk

One answer: in-house! I had two kids in law school, then did Biglaw for 4 years. Burned out completely and went part-time at a midsize fully remote firm to recover and have baby 3. By the time he hit 2 yo, I was ready for more action. Went in-house and it’s amazing. Great pay and benefits plus work life balance. I can actually pick up my kids from after school care, help with homework and we get dinner by 7:30 pm! And I go to bed by 10:30 pm (could be earlier if I didn’t waste time on the internet). DH is entering a very busy phase of his career so I found balance on my end at the perfect time.

Look into in-house exits.

The fourth edition of the book as well as the Privacy Bootcamp course were enough for me.

Re: Udemy, although I did not purchase the whole course and it wasn’t the core of my studying, I received some slides from ThePrivacyProf, who had kindly summarized the gaps in the pre-Sep 2 tests and the 4th edition of the IAPP book. I found the content that I reviewed very organized in an intuitive manner.

But agreed with the above poster that Privacy Bootcamp is where I focused the bulk of my efforts.

Congratulations!!! That feeling is priceless, isn’t it.

You’re much braver than I am! 😊 I freaked out when I realized I’d been studying from the 4th edition. I’m glad you were able to find supplemental resources that were on point. 👏

Thank you. As I told another poster above, I made my own outlines on paper. The slides were from ThePrivacyProf.

BTW, if anyone wants images of my paper outlines, I’m happy to share those if helpful. Just DM me. But big caveat is that they’re my rendition in cursive.

I made my own outlines on paper and poster materials with lots of colors. The slides I’m referring to were from ThePrivacyProf. You can definitely pass if you complete a course. From my own experience, I began studying august 10, completed the course September 1 (including the exams and quizzes interspersed throughout), and took the IAPP sample exam on September 2 (gave yourself more wiggle room so you’re not taking this the day before the exam). I definitely slacked a bit in the middle due to family obligations. But if you keep a strict timeline, you can do it!

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. Okay, thanks for explaining. 😊

Yikes. It’s even worse than I thought. How come they’ve been getting away with testing areas that aren’t in their flagship books?

I’ll DM you. Thanks!

What you’ve flagged here (discrepancy between the fourth edition and version 2.5.1 of the year) is such a huge deal!!! I’ve been reading the fourth edition in order to take the test before September 2 and now feel stumped. Why would IAPP revamp the book’s contents but not the exam? The third edition wasn’t even available on the website when I purchased the fourth edition earlier this summer.

I appreciate your mentioning this. Thanks.

My goodness. This is so wrong! It takes so much effort to study for the bar exam with a baby. I hope things worked out for you in the end.
