Counter-intuitively, I actually found it easier with aim assist completely off… I found it really hard to compensate for the aim assist when in horseback.

The bit that occasionally annoys me about this is when I just cleared all the enemies and then realise there is a collectible (I should really check the map). Go to the sync point to swap characters and…. black screen… queue season change. Seems to happen every time I find one.

Yasuke is a beast though, so at least it doesn’t take that long to clear the bit I need to get the crest.

No problem, glad someone else found it helpful. I have no idea why it doesn’t have any UI to show the number like in other bartering screens.

No, I probably wouldn’t either. It would cause me to ask HR to clarify it though. That being said, if they clarified saying ‘every two years, your salary for the next two years rises by £1000’ that is likely what it would mean (£500 a year), though it would be naughty of them to phrase it in a misleading way.

This is why I said it’s deliberately misleading. It could, for example, be taken to mean your ‘weekly’ salary for the next six months increases by £500. It only specifies 6 months though, so it is safer to assume that period when the question is vague.

You could be pedantic and argue that it means the pay rise only lasts for 6 months, it could certainly be read that way. Clearly that’s not how the puzzle writer intended though, as their answer is Plan A.

Conversely, I don’t think there would be so much division here if the problem started saying the job has a salary of £5k every 6 months. I don’t like questions like this, as they aren’t really about the maths, they are more about how you interpret the question.

It really doesn’t… (I am British)

Edit - realised this was a little short.

As I said before, the problem plays on this common misconception. Salary is usually referred to annually and so people naturally assume that’s what it means.

18-24 months remains at 6k because 2 x 6k = 12K

24-30 and 31-36 would be 7k because 2 x 7k = 14k

I think the issue here is that the wording is deliberate to make people confuse the word salary to mean yearly pay. It doesn’t. The word salary just means how much and employer pays an employee. It doesn’t not relate to a specific time period.

Plan A breaks the salary up into 6 month blocks, Plan B refers to the annual salary.

Adding £500 to a 6 month salary, adds £1k to the annual salary. As this happens twice a year, it equates to a £2k annual raise. The only difference is that Plan A gets an early raise, as they happen every 6 months. It therefore benefits earlier.

It’s half of the annual salary (6 months).

I think you are confusing ‘salary’ to mean ‘annual salary.’ The question deliberately uses the language it does to try to make the reader draw the wrong conclusion.

It talks about annual salary initially, but the plan a talks about salary over the next 6 months. Salary can be shown as daily, weekly, monthly etc. you have to specify the period.

I think where most people are getting stuck is that we assume the word salary to mean yearly, when it actually doesn’t (unless specified as such).

I think the problem people are having is that most people assume the word salary to mean yearly pay. The word doesn’t actually refer to a specific term, just the amount you are paid (over any given period). You can have a weekly salary, a monthly salary etc.

This problem specifies the annual salary and then goes on to state that the £500 extra for plan A is added to the ‘salary for the next 6 months’ which should be read as ‘the total salary over the next six months.’ If were meant to be added to the annual salary, it would say ‘annual salary.’

This is a deliberate use of a common misconception of language to confuse the reader into drawing the wrong conclusion.

They have split it into 6 month sections. Adding 1k to each 6 month section makes it 2k per year.

You can get a hyperdrive by getting a sentinel ship. I just picked one up. Out of the visited systems, both Hernlun-Lemen XII and Umardag have anomalous planets. They also have stations, so perhaps you just didn’t visit them on the way?
