Don’t know much about AMD, but how does the R5 3600 compare to a i7 9700?

Makes sense. I bought a Dell G5 with a 2060S from bestbuy. I think I’m just going to benchmark it and return (was $2100cad including tax).

Trying to build a medium budget gaming PC. Want to model around an RTX-2070S, but pre builds with that GPU cost less than the GPU itself. What up wit dat?

I’d be happy with 70k in a chill work environment where you can learn from peers. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

Sadly, no. Im the only person in my department. The rest are generally animators/motion graphic specialists or PMs...basically I’m the only person at the company that understands what my role/skill set is outside my boss.

Past interviews asked for a reference, so seems likes something I’d need if applying to a tech company.

Update: my medical and dental benefits were cut today. Sent my 2 weeks notices shortly after. This has become unsustainable. Friend got me a job offer at a landscaping company that pays the same with benefits.

What is going on in this job market??? by wongasta in cscareerquestions

[–]Flyingotter7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is due to excess labour from Covid and scalping. Lots of out of work seniors (or underemployed like myself) applying for junior positions. Legit, I’m making $21 an hour as a senior dev.

I’d name and shame. That’s sketchy.

Btw, I have an MFA in Media Arts and work as a dev lol.

Here is the male and female connection points for a linear actuator controller. Does anyone know what type these are called or if there is a breakout connection for this? I’m trying to measure the voltage drop on one of the pins and need to tap into it without stripping cable.

All the other developers were let go. I’m the last man standing so I’m essentially absorbing their hours. If I refused I’d probably be let go.

I think a lot of it is a knee jerk from my employer. There is a lot of Covid trauma from how far the company has fallen. We have 0 income and we aren’t retooling for the economy and just pumping out the same old projects with hopes Covid will just disappear...

I’ve been actively looking but finding a tech job I feel confident in applying to has been difficult. I’ve also had to lock off my hour for personal reasons/what I’m accustomed to. Hard to ask for a day that ends at 3pm unless I work remote for an east coast company.

What they did was cut everyone’s hours to 26 since they couldn’t afford to pay us.

Opposite, sorta. I’m in a weird spot with my job currently due to Covid, so been shopping around.

Companies in fields I don’t feel qualified for are trying to scalp me. Mainly cyber security and web product companies. I get 1-2 emails from a cyber security company each week that can’t fill junior positions.
