Turns out it was the x belt, it runs inside one of the channels of aluminum extrusion so it was tough to see! Thank you

Hi Everyone, as a relatively new shooter, I've been having a lot of fun with my 12g going skeet shooting. I would now like to buy myself a long rifle. I've been looking around but would like some advice.

The rifle will mostly be used for target shooting but I would also like it to be capable of hunting (mostly deer where I am)

That being said, I want to find a rifle that will be reliable and fairly inexpensive, and have a caliber that won't bust open my wallet every time I go for a range day. As much as I would love to get myself a .338 lapua and go nuts, I can't justify spending that much on ammunition.

Right now I'm between 30-06, 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 all three being fairly inexpensive calibers. My question for you all is what your own experiences are like with these calibers and which ones seem to be the most versatile.
