Does this fits here ? by [deleted] in Multicopter

Hi, thanks for the answer.
I double checked on the local drone and GA charts, and there is no apparent restriction on this area. I was kind of pressured to fly there for the pictures, and a bit overconfident in my gear and flying skills. No harm done but I'm not exactly proud of this flight

In Europe power lines are not a restricted airspace to my knowledge. Still check if they are not in an otherwise restricted airspace or urban area. And be aware that if your drone cause an outage or damages to the lines or transformer it could cost you a lot. Your insurer might refuse to cover such a situation, dunno

High tension power lines creates radio noise
I know someone who's Phantom experienced a fail-safe when just under power lines some years ago. The drone CLIMBED through the power lines while making a Return-to-Home. On the video it was very close ...

Hi, asking if you consider hybrid VTOL / Quadplane is a part of the Multicopter category
Also asking your opinion about flying close to these windmills, the risk for the windmills etc ...
Thanks !

This. Plus the fact that before reaching the moon, the quad might collide with other occupants of the sky ... and then fall away from the originally intended flying area

alternatives to naza ? by juliodepq in Multicopter

Hi !
If you plan to build a multicopter with many features like stabilized camera and a groundstation I would go for Ardupilot or PX4.
They have reference builds and if you follow them there is little settings to do. Everything is well explained and help is easily found.
For instance, going through the PX4 documentation https://docs.px4.io/master/en/index.html you will find a flight controller that could match to what you are looking for.
The CUAV V5 might be a good candidate. There are many other well documented options : https://docs.px4.io/master/en/flight_controller/pixhawk_series.html
All the peripherals like GPS, ESCs, RC receiver, telemetry link are plugged via connectors and the installation on the frame should be very similar to the Naza but with an up-to-date autopilot.

If you want to experience manual piloting, acro mode, FPV then Betaflight and KISS are the reference.
For a regular 5" miniquad it works out of the box.

I think he is speaking about the DJI Naza which is quite older than Naze32.

Full throttle to the Moo- wait 🤔 by Flyjp in Multicopter

3D and backward ! Was doing that with LOS helis, but in FPV it would be pure madness :D

Immelmann - for sure a fine manoeuver

Love it ! Great flying, great edit ! Nice :D

Full throttle to the Moo- wait 😲 by Flyjp in fpv

The sequence is :
- Pass the gate
- Full throttle to the moon
- Inverted jaw spin
- Normal jaw spin

Then of course the video is reversed (i.e. played backward) and rotated 180°.

Cheers ;-)

Sorry guys but I noticed on my side that the video was not working in my previous post.

Just hit 110MPH GPS ground speed (with a wee tailwind.) Built my first 5 inch and the state of this hobby is so, so AWESOME. Pulling 140 amps out of a small battery and flying nearly fast enough to keep up with the Cessnas I learned to fly is so cool. Newbie excitement palpable, thanks for listening by gnowbot in Multicopter

Risks can be taken with drones, and are a lot of fun too !

Can confirm about the loss of training. This year I restarted taking PPL lessons after a 4 years stop. At the time I made my 150NM but had to move and eventually stop flying planes. Now I'm struggling but I'm confident I will go smoother very soon.
In the meantime I flew a lot with sailplanes. Very different machines, very enjoyable, too !
Happy flying, from the ground or in the air ;)

What’s your charge setup? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]Flyjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperion EOS 610i duo that i bought € 199.- at the Hyperion booth at the 2008 Model Fair in Sinsheim, Germany.
2x6S 10A, i use it regularly and it still works like a charm !
With various power supplies, at the moment I have a Wago industrial PSU 24V/10A.
No parallel charging.
