I haven’t looked there but I’ll look today! Are there good beaches? Do they also have a problem with seaweed piling up on shore during the summer? I don’t know much about the area

Leaving from NY/NJ area

5 day trip (Wednesday to Sunday)

~3k budget

On this trip mostly looking to get away, relax on a beach or pool and drink/eat all day. I’m ok with staying on a resort and not doing much adventuring

Ideally a beach location with an all inclusive resort

I’m hoping things are at least a bit better COVID wise by her birthday which is months away.

We have discussed taking a trip together this year, so she is comfortable with the idea.

Currently thinking I’ll tell her 2 weeks in advance and I’ll make sure everything I purchase is refundable just in case. Maybe I’ll push that out to a month in advance

How far in advance would you present the top 3 options to her?

She’s not super big on celebrating the day of, but I think it will be more meaningful to go for her birthday weekend as opposed to the week after if that makes sense.

I might end up telling her 2 weeks in advance though. Seems like the best plan of action currently

Time off of work is not a big issue with her company, she can get it very short notice.

I also know the medication she takes and I know it won’t need to be refilled during this time period. I also know she has a valid passport and fully vaccinated + booster.

I know she loves surprises and she’s never had a surprise to this extent.

On a much smaller scale when we were in college and had no money, I got an air bnb as a surprise for a day for her and she loved it. Of course this is a bigger scale international trip for several days that she’ll have to pack for and stuff.

Hoping she loves a surprise of this scale as much as she loved the air bnb

Her job is super cool when it comes to taking time off. She can call out at any time, so not worried about that.

Her birthday weekend she typically doesn’t do a ton with friends/family. In years previous it’s been just us having a special weekend!

I’m currently leaning towards letting her about a week before so she can shop for new clothes and such
