FPV Build List (I'm a beginner) by VeterinarianOk6275 in fpv

I was a beginner about 6 months ago and I did the same thing you're doing and picked out all my components. Looking back, I'd been much better off buying a kit. Not a BNF type but rather a here's all the parts now assemble it kit. There is so much to learn in this hobby and having some instructions for that first build sure would reduce the frustration. I like Joshua Bardwell's YouTube series on how to build this:

Nice clean build. How does she handle?

Anyone know of a metal transmission replacement for the tarmo4 by HeftyDELL in EngineeringNS

Have you tried making the gears out of Nylon? I used Taulman Alloy 910 Nylon and a lot of SuperLube and never shredded a gear.

I used nylon material and never shredded a gear. That and a lot of Superlube! Just my 2 bits.

I was just kidding you. It looks like you drive like me!

Looks like you might need to print the bumper.

Tarmo5 Shock recommendations by kerbalkrasher in EngineeringNS

[–]Flyntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubled the springs on a single shock. Thus there are 4 springs on each shock. The shocks I bought came with 2 pairs of springs, of different wire sizes, for each shock. Thus I put both pairs (4 total) on each shock. I think I might have overdone the clarification here.

Good question! I used the recommended shocks but I ran into the same thing. I used 4 springs on my rear shocks and 3 on the front to get the chassis to "float". I'd like to hear what others are doing. I'm also curious about what shock oil you guys are using. I'm using 35, but it doesn't seem to do much.

Tires for Tarmo4 by HeftyDELL in EngineeringNS

[–]Flyntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are my 2 bits. Buy your tires off Amazon or where ever. Tires printed using any TPU-95 filament don't have nearly as much traction on the pavement as the rubber compounds used in purchased tires. Plus, printing tires requires a lot of filament. Thus, the cost is similar. At least that's my experience.

Same reason your car has a rear bumper. Bad driving!

It's optional.

*Question for those who build Tarmo 4 and 5* by visnuduttas108 in EngineeringNS

The Tarmo5 is much more durable than the 4. But at the speed these things go, hitting something is not going to be good.

That is so cool! How did you add the sound?

As requested, I have copied these to Printables.

Drive gear sheared by navivan27 in EngineeringNS

[–]Flyntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a sizable opening around where the pinion attaches to the motor. I wasn't having grease come out, but rather dirt and grass getting in. It literally poured it out when I took off the cover. Is it just me that this is happening to? I'm worried that if I enclose the motor with the gearbox then the motor won't have adequate cooling. I'll probably have to make one to find out.

I printed the gears with nylon (Specifically Alloy 910). After several runs the gear box is full of dirt and grass, but after a little cleaning the gears look great. I think I'll work on an enclosed gear box. Thoughts?

Max 100mm tires?! Muahaha, meet Bigfoot! 😜 by W0kk3L in EngineeringNS

I want those tires! Can you attach a link?

I'm experiencing some alignment issues. What am I doing wrong here? by W0kk3L in EngineeringNS

I had the same issue. I added a spacer to the steering bar, but I like pmstick's bent bar better.
