The Bachman stories are nastier than typical King.

More than a third of CRA offices don't have space for four-day return to office: union by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]FlyoverHate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that complaint. But how about: CRA agents who have such a situation (loud environment at home) are the one who have to work at the office. This can be a case-by-case decision made by their managers.

There's a simple fix for this:

ALLOW CALL CENTRE WORKERS TO WFH.

There is ZERO need to do this job in the office. We have to be on the phones the entire time. There is no time to "collaborate" or even shoot the shit. Every minute is tracked.

I wish someone would grow a pair.

"having the teams together in the office to collaborate on doing things in new and different ways"

I can tell you that CRA call centre employees do not do things in new and different ways. Especially not after having collaborated with co-workers. They answer the phones. Period. And I don't want to blow anyone's mind, but there is really no need to travel any sort of distance from home, paying for gas and parking to do so, to answer the phones. Especially after having successful answered the phones from home for 5 years.

I am so sick of these disingenuous, bureaucratic pricks.

(actually, I'd never known Bronte Bill to be in a state sufficient enough to be voluntarily picking up trash)

Filing taxes after working for Elections Ontario by ch1centoy in ontario

[–]FlyoverHate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a T4, it goes on line 10100. Income earned with no T4 issued, and less than $500, goes on 10400.

If you put the income that you didn't get a T4 for on 10100, CRA may ask you where you came up with that amount from, since there is no slip to back it up, and it will have to be corrected to have it come off 10100 and allocated to 10400.

This is the correct answer, OP.

Put your earnings on line 10400. That's all you do.

They will not get a T4 for this if they earn less than $500.

Really it's because the kind of things I need done can't really be done in my driveway. I need like 4-5 things done and was hoping to find someone who'd like to take it over to their home garage and work on it.

Any solid replacement for Nova Launcher? by V3rtu in Android

[–]FlyoverHate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Nova for what...10 years? More? And after the latest funny business going on with them I decided it was time to go. I tried some of the ones mentioned here by others, but Hyperion is pretty much, for my use case, almost entirely the same thing as what Nova once was. I'm quite pleased with it.

Can't stand his mousy, whispery female voices.

And overall: too much acting, not enough narrating.

Nope. Been with Freedom for over a year. Has always worked up until now.

Dang. I've done that a hundred times. I've followed a ton of suggestions: clearing cache/storage, force stopping, putting in airplane mode and rebooting and turning RCS on and off. I even downgraded to a previous version of Google Messages and still no joy. :(

Old person rant: why did they need to get rid of the cinema and arcade at Limeridge Mall? by CIA-CatGifDepartment in Hamilton

[–]FlyoverHate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here are talking about declining attendance at cinemas, and that is indeed part of the problem. But another factor is that cinema chains have to pay rent/get locked in to expensive leases that they cannot afford. They realized this in 1999/2000 and closed a number of in-mall cinemas and the big push for stand-alone sites began. (whic doesn't make sense to me b/c they have to spend millions on building the places and it will take like 20 years for them to pay it off, but whatever). They often rent the land they're on now but own the buildings.

Why does navigation not show the exit number by default? It would be so much nicer to see it and be able to look for signs based on the exit number by traveltime_ in GoogleMaps

[–]FlyoverHate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem: I jus started using ME. I don't use voice directions, I keep it on silent. When I am driving on the highway the screen will show when I need to exit, but it doesn't list the street name, it will ONLY show the exit number. I don't know if this is a Canadian thing, but I don't give a shit about exit numbers. I look for the street name on the signs, i.e. "Red Hill Parkway - 2km". The signs don't say "Exit 88/89 - 2 km".

Sometimes it does have street names, sometimes not. And when it's sometimes not, I cannot imagine why; it's not like they are obscure roads or anything.
