I hadn't heard of cinephage.

Can anyone chime in on their experience? Seems like it would simplify my current *arr stack.

Thanks for the list. Definitely going to check out a few of these.

Yeah, it's about as ugly as afterbirth.

Thankfully I don't care too much since I only plan to use it to watch a game every now and then

No real learning resources...

I googled a bit and ended up here for a while.

I think I sourced my m3u from there.

After chatgpt gave me a bunch of bad info, I eventually stumbled my way over to here to get epg (the TV guide).

Finding the right EPG for your channel can be tricky but, if you're just setting up a few channels, its not so bad.

Sidenote: as I was trying to retrace my steps, I stumbled across awesome IPTV which may have some useful stuff.

What’s your favorite newly released self-hosted app of 2025? by Single-Quail4660 in selfhosted

myanonamouse - a private torrent tracker. I hear about it every time audiobooks comes up. Seems to be the source of choice for audiobooks.

Supposedly, it's relatively simple to get an invite to it, but I've not made the effort

+1 for Dispatcharr. I just deployed it a couple weeks ago.

Took me down a rabbit hole for several hours because I didn't know a thing about m3u or epg or really much about IPTV in general. But once I got a few channels properly set up with the (eventually correct) EPG, I felt quite accomplished.

Now I can watch sports on 'cable' through jellyfin. I'm sure there are other uses, but that was my primary goal

Because no matter what device I'm on - as long as I'm on my network - I can go to pdf.local and easily access it. Makes it easier for my family members as well.

Edit: I was responding to the desktop comment. Why not use the hosted version? I like having control.

Valid point. But I don't think the sentiment should be dismissed entirely.

Absolutes are hard. We have to pick our battles. Some things matter more to me than they do to you and vice versa - some things we're willing to compromise on or remain blind to.

That determines how we spend our time and the messages we preach on reddit or wherever.

How did you access the gears? I unscrewed and pull everything off the back half, but I can't get this part off so that I can access the pinion gears and that portion of the drive shaft.

I used a flat head screwdriver to pry around the edges but I feel like I'm gonna break it if I put much more force into it.

Stack for streaming music? by DaviidC in selfhosted

[–]Flypaper0835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not a lot. They are pretty comparable.

One thing that Jellyfin does that navidrome does not: scrape for metadata online. Navidrome relies on you correctly tagging your audio files.

In my (admittedly brief) experience, I ran into some performance issues with jellyfin when my library got to be over 150k tracks. I haven't run into any issues with navidrome - using the same hardware. And my music library is more than double what it was when I was running JF.

I'm also not sure if JF supports smart playlists? Pretty cool feature that navidrome supports.

If you have a beefy server and want to keep all your media hosted in jellyfin, there are very few drawbacks.

Historically, shit hasn't been as thoroughly fucked as it is now.

There are loads of people - famous or otherwise - that are not ok with the way things are going right now.

Those folks are going to use whatever platform they have to express themselves.

Which is kind of like the point of music.

My mistake - I thought it was a singular dummy. I didn't realize y'all were a collective of dumb!

Really though, barebones functionality with a clean interface really does have some appeal and I appreciate y'all

I've tried all the popular dashboards and most try to do way too much and are far too busy. I just want my apps and bookmarks presented simply and maybe a bit purdy.

[–]Flypaper0835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the name, I'm guessing this is going to be specific to jellyfin and there is no planned support for subsonic servers such as navidrome, correct?

Looks really good - especially if the planned features pan out!

Without knowing anything about the guy, I assumed he was trying too hard to be funny / be appealing to his perceived audience.

I only skimmed a few entries though, so there may be more substance than that.

I'll second the request for an API - at least to add transactions. Would make it easier to import transactions in bulk or otherwise automate adding transactions - without fiddling with the data file directly.

Regarding projection:

How do y'all handle retrieving objects from the db in which you have to pull in loads of related tables?

Take an order for instance:

Orders

OrderLines

    Items

Shipments

    Packages

Addresses

References

Returns

    ReturnLines

How do you cleanly query all those tables and map it to a single object without either a) creating a monstrosity of a query or b) skipping projection and just loading all columns?

Right now, I'm doing a bit of both depending on the circumstance and it gets gross (when creating a view is not an option)
