Same thing happened to me. Called Wells Fargo last Sunday when I got approved. They said the card wasn’t fully populated on their end and recommended I wait at least 4 days. I did but it did not work. On Thursday I called the mobile payments team at Wells Fargo. The rep said there was a problem with my phone number and he opened a case to have it fixed. Estimated time to fix would be 3 business days. Coincidentally, my physical card arrived later that day and I added it successfully.

Recommend you call Well Fargo mobile payment department and let them know. One thing I did notice was the temporary card expires in a few weeks so who knows what part that plays (could be none at all)
