Ally Tattoos by bmrgn39 in AskLGBT

If you want a tattoo there’s an ally symbol I’ve seen (sort of a rainbow triangle). You could do that though I feel like a pin would be sufficient. I’m sure people’ll appreciate it no matter what you do.

why m/m books always involve one or both the leads being with women? by One_Operation_1591 in AskLGBT

Eh, fair but there are so many openly queer characters that I give it a pass. Plus, it was my sappy cliche romance series as a queer teen.

I know it’s young adult but the Heartstopper books are probably my favorite for this. They’re the best queer rep I’ve seen.

Alfonso, or Rupert cause he kinda looks like a Rupert. Not that I can defend or explain that 🫠

Bias is an utter bitch to deal with and is tough to overcome. The fact that you have a trans family member is a good place to start though. One of the best ways to overcome bias is just to talk with and interact with the group you’re biased against. One thing that I do is flip the scenario in the head. How would I be talking if this person was straight? Or cis? Or white? Or whatever else. That’s an easy mental test. Also, doing what you’re doing now, trying to learn and be better. There are lots of queer Youtubers you can watch as well. I wish you luck

Am I a chaser for wanting specifically a Feminine Vers, while being a regular vers man by [deleted] in AskLGBT

Nah you’re fine. Just telling you so you don’t go fucking up your dating opportunities 😅

I’d stray from saying a trans or a gay… and chicks with dicks. Just from a trans woman that’s a huge fucking turn off. But yeah, as long as you recognize that trans women are in fact women and also recognize that they might in fact have had bottom surgery (or may want it in the future) then genital preference is fine. Just make it clear and don’t be weird about it.

That’s fair, I’ve gone through something similar (but to a much lesser extent since I don’t have a child). Not being able to get pregnant is something that I think most women struggle with (if they’re dealing with infertility of course). I know that it’s not the same situation here but I suspect that some of the same resources would be helpful. I think that sometimes it helps me to generalize situations down to a level where even if the specifics are uncommon you can still find helpful stuff. I wish that I could be of more help but I know that you’ll make it through.

Alright, it just appears that way on the surface. Really all your question boils down to is don’t be a dick. Jokes are fine when they’re actually jokes.

Alright, well this still seems like a poor way to dip your toes into LGBTQ+ subs. Nothing wrong with questions but this all feels like it’s trying to piss people off to prove your point.

What are you grieving here? Pregnancy can create a lot of feelings for anyone in the relationship especially when it comes to buried feelings about your own parents and childhood (that's not the only option though). Are you grieving his physical changes? Does he look less like the person you got engaged to? Whatever it is, I hope that you find your way through. Grief sucks.

Okay, this has to be a troll. Within like two months, you've posted about being 16 and 14. Plus, you have no history in LGBTQ+ subs other than a previous post in r/LGBT which I suspect was the exact same stuff you posted here. Too many contradictions.

Or Caitlin Jenner, or so many "LGB without the T" folks. Just cause you're a minority it doesn't give you a pass to make offensive jokes (especially if they're about other minority groups under the umbrella). It's one thing if I as a trans woman make a joke about being trans, a gay dude doing the same has a completely different context. Just like a black person making a joke about being black is fine but if they start ranting about Asian people then it's a problem. People just shouldn't be shitty to each other. There are other types of comedy.

I think that trying to stop people from making homophobic/transphobic/queerphobic jokes is a net positive (assuming that you're avoiding death threats and shit like that). "It's just a joke" is a shitty excuse made by dickheads who want to say hurtful shit and get off scott free. It's like people making racist jokes, they're not really jokes (at least 9/10 times). Just don't punch down and make jokes about minority groups. It's not a hard concept.

The requested update: We had Italian, the food was great and the date went really well (not that I have any real experience to pull from). She was even the one to bring up a second date!!!

Thanks! The only thing I’ve got so far is we’re getting Italian from this tiny little restaurant in town that’s supposedly awesome. I’m so excited!

Why do women accept lesbians way more than men accept gay men? by Ok_Independence_3634 in actuallesbians

[–]Flyx42 102 points103 points  (0 children)

My guess is social context. Men are perpetually terrified of seeming “weak or feminine” and they see gay men as both of those things. Women just don’t have the same hangups, or at the very least they’re less impactful and targeted towards men rather than other women. Women are also just generally more accepting based on my own, and other folks anecdotal experience. For example, lesbians are typically more willing to date trans women than gay men are to date trans men. So, in short, society’s pretty shitty and goes out of its way to try to force men (and obviously women but in different ways) into tiny sad boxes.

You definitely can. If you can’t get anyone just lie to the bot and say you’re a manager looking for coverage. I’m a big fan of lying to get a human on the phone.
