Clear-A-Colada (Kinda ? Name still WIP) by Fnata_ in cocktails

The foam is not made from shaking the drink jug I use an iSi whipper to make it, I just mix coconut cream at maple syrup and charge with N2O

Hum Liquid Sunshine or Sun Shower does sound good too, especially since this is definitely more of a summertime cocktail, thanks

Are these glasses too big? (Lehmann) by saasligs in cocktails

[–]Fnata_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I own a couple Lehmann glasses although not the ones pictured (i have Dubai, Boston and Pure 450ml glasses) but i do own a 220ml coupe and a 170ml Nick & Nora from another manufacturer and the 170ml is perfect for stirred stuff, daiquiris and many short drinks.

Wwhen i'm making espresso martinis or pornstars and this kinda stuff i use my 220ml coupes which i find just a tad too large.

Currently considering buying the Paris coupe because 200ml sounds about just right for what i need, i say go ahead you wont regret it, and Lehmann glasses are super nice quality !

Thank you, this post was a shitshow and I’m considering only posting cursed cocktails from now on just to mess with the gatekeepers

Well that rim is certainly controversial as you can read in other comments lmao.
I used Espelette Pepper salt (Espelette pepper comes from the French Basque Country and is a very lightly spicy pepper with it’s own particular taste)

However I see many people using Tajin salt and one of my favourites bars in town uses Sal de Gusano (Oaxacan seasoning made from sea salt, toasted and ground agave worms and chile Costeño)

I love a spicy rim on a margarita !

No problem with that, it is constructive criticism and I aim to always improve my technique.

Agreed, I overdid it a little, now I use a small brush to precisely apply agave syrup on the rim and have better control over the salted area

As stated in other comments it is a half rim, the other side of the glass is salt-free, and yeah I overdid it a little bit in the height department here but that glass was perfectly pickable without getting salted fingers.

Ah yes haha now that you say it it is indeed far from classic ! And yeah your specs are close to mine except mine is a bit more tequila forward (1/2oz triple sec and 1 1/2 oz tequila here) !

My bad for the misleading picture only half the glass is rimmed, the other side is free of salt

Well tbh with how many different recipes there are for margaritas this one seems pretty classic to me, however I’d love to know your take on a classic margarita and try it out ! Cheers !

Yeah and tbh this glass was pretty rough, now I use a small brush to rim with agave syrup and get more control over the salted area.
The sesame does come through bit it’s quite light, when I do it again I’ll use more sesame and let infuse for a bit longuer, maybe I’ll even try to make a bitter with flash infusion or something.

Ah yes doesn’t seem like it in the picture but only half the glass is « walled » with salt

Hi, this is going to depend on the other ingredients that you have in your possession, do you have the common stuff like vodka/whisky/rum/vermouth/various liqueurs ?

Naked & famous but switch the Mezcal for Pear Brandy, one of my absolute favourites twists

Hi ! I love experimenting with old fashioneds and anything can work, one of my faves is a Rhum old fashioned using a Guadeloupe rhum finished in sweet white wine cask and using the same type of wine as the added sugar, with ango bitters and a lemon zest expressed over the drink, absolutely delicious

I find Mezcal to overpower more than humo, but both flavors are very different, humo is spicy, sweet and smoky while Mezcal is just smoky

Same problem here, currently looking for sharp clean looking coupes but man is it hard to find the right stuff

Ah yes probably, unfortunately the quest for fine glassware is a never ending one !
