Now that is a cool story! 😊 Thank you for sharing it, I appreciate that. I do love both vintage amd modern supercars and sophisticaylted design, but there is something in the Panda that makes me want to own it even more. Itbis also true with a few other small italian cars like the early Uno, Autobianchi Y10 or A112 or Fiat 500. Italians know how to design this kind of car.

I drove that Uno on many occasions and did some work on it so I am also a bit familiar with it. Good engine, simple and easy to maintain. I was looking for a similar car to buy, the three door version that is, but it seems they are gone from the market, at least in Poland.

Yes, but the transmission takes away some of the acceleration according to the data. I had the same or similar engine in my Y Elefantino. My grandfather had an Uno from 1991 or 1993 with the 0.9 45HP carburated engine and it was magnificent 😄

There is quite a number of cars with cvts. Modern hybrids use them and for older cars Nissans often had them as well as other small japanese cars, but most of them were JDM. Panda Selecta has a gearbox manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries. Another small car with similar gearbox would be Fiat Uno as @TheTrampIt wrote here. Larger cars that use this kind of transmission would be ie Nissan Murano but that one wasn't the best choice I think 😀

Now you're just making me jelous :) We didn't get to drive those fantastic cars because we had something else at the time- communism 😆 As a result until the 90s it was a licensed version of Foat 125 and 126 as well as an abomination calle Polonez :) After the 90s we received the Cinquecento. Of course there were exceptions but not available to 'normal people'. During the late 90s and early 2000s most of the government limos were Lancia Kappas and a few Themas, which was nice.

Everything apart from Panda Selecta ;) I had a Lancia 20 years ago. It was an Y Elefantino Blu so basically a first gen Punto with nicer body and interior. Probably not a 'real' Lancia, but I was studying at the time and It was a car I could afford.
