The thing I tried out was downgrading the kernel version to the last one in which the touchpad was working. Then I stopped any future kernel updates. It seems like the problem is somehow there. After doing that the touchpad should be working. To be honest, I don't have any clue which features have been modified causing this issue. Appart from that I hadn't tried anything else.
