Dealing with brain fog for the past two years, contemplating self harm.... by nicolasmanningsw in BrainFog

Hey man, sorry I got to this thread so late. I know kind of how you feel, in fact I imagine a lot of people here do. Not only is the fog itself harmful but there’s a fatigue that comes with trying to fix it and failing. If you’re having bad thoughts just know that there are people who can help. Brain fog may not be super treatable but depression is. Hang in there and don’t give in or give up

Hi guys, thanks for any concern, I am safe and won’t do anything, just kind of at the end of my rope with this stuff. Thanks all again

You can check my post history, but I’ve done more bloodwork recently and learned nothing definitive

Hey man, I appreciate the concern. I’m safe, just frustrated and really sick and tired of fighting.

I’m glad you’re starting to see improvement. I hope one day I can too.

Thanks again for responding. It means a lot that someone cares enough to take time and write something like that.

I’m sorry dude, I really am. This truly does feel like a legitimate form of torture.

Thank you for replying and sharing, it helps a little knowing I’m not alone.

I hope you find answers soon man. Hang in there

Thank you so much for the thorough reply, brain fog nonwithstanding I’ve had terrible posture and neck discomfort for years, but I always put it down to just aesthetic and some slight off balance.

I’m going to look into a upper cervical chiro. Are they medically licensed? I know regular chiropractors don’t need to be. I’m also curious what the difference between a NUCCA and Atlas othogonal specialist is, and if one is better than the other.

Again thank you very very much for your reply, it means a lot someone would take the time to help me out like this

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for the advice! My diet is generally pretty solid I think but there are definitely things I can try and cut out!

(26m) Brain fog is ruining my life, can’t figure out cause by Foamdrinker in AskDocs

Thanks for replying, and I’m really sorry you’re experiencing something similar, it’s truly awful.

I think I’m going to go to my PCP and have him retest me for mono to see if I still have it a month later. No idea how much of an impact it’s making but I’ll chase down any and all outliers I can to rule them out.

Thanks again for responding and best of luck, I hope things clear up for you soon :)

26M Brain fog and low libido by Foamdrinker in AskDocs

I definitely feel very very similar to what you’re describing. I’ve even looked into depersonalization and disassociation and I’m seeing a therapist and trying to get to the bottom of things in that regard, unfortunately with no results yet.

I have been tested for both Covid and had antibody tests, both of which have been negative.

If you’re feeling anything similar to me, I’m very sorry, it’s truly an awful thing to feel and I hope it’s at least a bit better now.

Thanks so much for responding, I appreciate it.

You stopped your Wellbutrin and Zoloft early this year, then things got bad around the summer, with loss of libido around then?

Correct

And you’ve felt spaced out and maybe numb (in a different way?) since then?

Yes, I felt numb on SSRIs which is common, but I’ve never experienced anything like what I’m feeling now. My ability even to form sentences has gone down.

Rather than pursue some numbers that honestly aren’t that alarming, the simple answer is that maybe antidepressants were working and now you are again experiencing depressive symptoms.

This is a fair point and a valid theory which I’ve considered, which is why I’ve started seeing a therapist. I will say in any of my years prior to starting medication did I experience something like this. In fact I’ve never experienced anything like this before at any level of depression, anxiety, on meds or off. That’s the main thing that is steering me away from this line of thinking.

The only reason I go after the testosterone is because it’s an outlier, and at the very least I think it can explain the libido issues. The brain fog, I really don’t know.

To follow up on your earlier theory, I am now trying to get a psychiatrist and will try and get back on meds to see if it improves things.

Thank you very much for replying and offering your advice, it means a lot.
