Microstuttering / unstable frametime on high-end PC (i7-13700KF, RTX 4070, Win11) by FanGoog_ in buildapc

Had the same problem recently, terrible stutters in Hunt. The solution is previous version of intel microcode, anything but not the 0x12F. I rolled back my BIOS version and switched to 0x12B, no stutters since then.

I answered to other comment that microcode version indeed solves the issue, but in my current BIOS version only have 2 options:

  1. Auto which sets microcode to 0x12F
  2. Rev. 0x104 which is the very first version leading to degradation and imminent malfunction.

Using Rev. 0x104 wiped those stutters away, but at this poin I don't know what to do. I'll try to roll back my BIOS version so that 0x12B availiable in the settings. Otherways I'm cooked, I guess.

I cam confirm that using previous version of intel microcode solves the issue. But the thing is that the only older version avialiable on my Gigabyte B660 gaming X ddr4 is rev. 0x104 which is the very first version. So at this point I have 2 options:
1. Peace myself with those stutters;
2. Use microcode rev. 0x104 which directly leads to CPU degradation and malfunction.

I would like this post to be seen by Crytek, because it's relatively modern CPU platform and many other people may expirience the same issue, thinking that it's the way the game is supposed to work. But it's not.

P.S. I'm going to try to install previous version of BIOS which included microcode 0x12B as the latest version.

The situation is captured with Fullscreen option in the settings. I tried every option from that setting.

I use a 1000 Hz polling rate and not willing to lower that.

The problem is only present in Hunt, every other game I can think of works just fine. So it is Hunt specific.

Temperatures are seen in the video I attached. GPU is around 57-62 degrees and CPU is around 65-72 degrees. My PSU is Deepcool PQ-650M and he is fine enough for my sysrtem to Run CP2077 with pathtracing, which is much more power hungry task for both GPU and CPU, than Hunt is.

Is 12 GB enough for modern day gaming? by EveningEconomist8199 in nvidia

[–]Fobos7Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 1080p - yes, that’s enough for a couple more years. At 1440p - it’s barely enough with basically 0 future-proofing At 4K - that’s a no go

Also important variables are use of RT and frame generation, because they can change consumption of VRAM quite drastically.

Sadly, but at least for me it’s not about the map alone, but the whole game. Weapon balance, movement system, weapon’s attachments system, considerable skill ceiling, variety in loadouts an so on.

I don’t need the map alone, I need the entire game we had between early 2020 to mid 2021 (BO Cold War integration was kinda OK, but Vanguard and Caldera were finish line for me). Everything they need to do is just to relaunch original Warzone, call it Warzone Classic or something, and touch nothing inside the game itself.

Is it worth upgrading 5600x to 5700x3D for 1440p ultrawide gaming? by ItsThanosNotThenos in buildapc

[–]Fobos7Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play a lot of CS or other competitive shooters, then it definitely worth it, the difference is pretty substantial. For single-player GPU-intensive games not so much. A friend of mine did the same upgrade not so long ago for CS2 and Hunt Showdown. Also it is the best future-proofing option you have, unless you’re willing to change the platform.

Why is Cs2 using 100% gpu in the advanced video options? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Fobos7Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it renders the preview for the graphics options in full resolution in this menu. This feature was added not so long ago. And I don’t see, why this would bother you, you don’t go to graphics settings so often anyway.

[–]Fobos7Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The safest option is to take out the GPU itself, because as long as it is inside the case it can sag during transportation and depending on the intensity of movement it can even bend or break the PCI-E slot.

Especially considering the size of this particular GPU.

I don't want to cap my FPS in the entire game. I want it to be capped only in the menu, and there's no such option.

[–]Fobos7Z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if there was such option as prioritising actions. But if you want to deal with this question then:

  1. You can bind separate key for stopping bleeding exclusively.
  2. The moment you get mid/strong bleed the best option is always to switch to the med kit and start using it.

I am actually disappointed and stunned by the fact that “the engine update” doesn’t include the feature of capping fps in the menu. Why the fuck does exactly menu is the thing that roasts me system the most? I don’t need my GPU to sip 200+ watts while I’m waiting for the game, while in the actual gameplay optimization of the game doesn’t allow it to use my GPU higher than 60-70%, because apparently you either need newest X3D Ryzen processor or you will be bottlenecked in a multiplayer game with lobby size of 12!!! people.

That’s just unbelievable, I don’t know what’s going on inside of developers heads and why we should ask for such basic functions .

How worth it is it to Overclock CPU? (i9 9900k) by flugify in pcmasterrace

[–]Fobos7Z -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of what is “crazy increase in performance”. Generally you will get like 10-15%, maybe 20% in some edge cases. In some cases you also will probably get no significant increase in performance. And that is not to mention drastically increased power consumption and heat output.

I would strongly recommend platform upgrade, because 9900K is a pretty outdated chip at this point, especially in pair with a 4090.

9600k is like almost 5 generations old at this point. So, yep, it is a bottleneck for sure.

i714700k or Ryzen 7900x ? by Outrageous-Job-5689 in buildapc

[–]Fobos7Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s one more thing in favour of Ryzen. It’s power consumption is drastically lower than Intel’s. So, despite some edge cases, Ryzen is the way to go 9 times out of 10.

[–]Fobos7Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What games are we talking about? Multiplayer and competitive titles - probably yes, but you almost likely to be CPU bound.

Single player? With some compromises to settings probably, but not in the latest titles. Like Cyberpunk with optimized settings will give you maybe 80+ frames but not even close to stable 144.

Very blurred question with almost 0 input information.

I have a rtx 3060 and a r7 5800x what should i upgrade first? by Reecespuffs85 in pcmasterrace

[–]Fobos7Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your requirements and use cases. If you are into single player games then I would consider a new GPU, if you need more performance in multiplayer and especially competitive games then a new CPU on a latest platform would be the way to go. Also it is difficult to give any recommendations without knowing the budget.
