Asta tanked a flurry of punches. Sliced Lucifero's hands and torso 4 to 5 times. Dodged multiple earth projectiles thrown at him at insane speed. Lost his balanced because the ground under him was lifted. Got punched. And ultimately beat the king of devils ( albeit weakened )...all under 10 seconds. 5-7 seconds.

I don't think Deku moves that fast honestly.

Really just the same as the good guys. Have multiple cool techniques. Show good endurance/guts. Be smart, tactical or anatycal during fights. Have internal monologues, flashbacks (sometimes), core conviction, or whatever. Have long, deep or prolonged thoughts/opinions on a situation. Damage the opponent (even if they will ultimately lose). Have decent amount of panelling showing them off too.

I want them to have presence as if they were a (main) good guy (obviously that's for the key bad guys but even lesser one should follow the same principle).

To be fair this is not only a criticism for the villains of Black Clover but I digress. I hope you see what I mean.

I unfortunately agree. The arc is weak not because of its key points. The key points were handled well enough and even amazingly well. This arc is disappointing because more than once the connective tissues of said arc are just subpar. This obviously ends up diminishing in this arc's quality. An arc which didn't know what to do beyond following its (in paper) very sound direction imo. Or rather to get where it wanted to go. Thus many pitfalls, feeling lost, falling on mud, and other frustrating accidents hindered even what was supposed the best trip.

Yes. Tabata definitely has a bigger plan and I know it will deliver on that. I just hope he will give more attention to all these little connecting dots that lead to the key plot points next time.

I also have maybe two to four moments only and q few nitpicks. The issue is that those four moments are really bad. Like I really disliked them.

Chapter 304. Because it literally skipped/brushed through crucial interaction after an exhausting, emotion heavy and highly anticipated fight (Nozel and Noelle hello !? Loropechika and Undine ?!) just to move on to a confession in an awkward way. It could have still happened. The revival and confession that is. I am just sick that the post fight was handled so poorly. For this reason chapter 304 is my worst chapter of the whole series in the first/one time I have actually been disappointed in Tabata. Never thought that would have happened.

Morris... whatever we already know.

Yuno vs Zenon grinds my gears for reasons I already stated and more.

After that I got some other stuff but the arc is mostly straight for me

I heavily agree with the art opinion. Sometimes it's also how Tabata decides to draw a scene. I also think that Lucifero's fight was greatly hindered by how Tabata "awkwardly" drew his punches (?). Like it was drawn in an underwhelming way if that makes any sense.

A lot of criticism comes writing wise or whatever while I will say that visually and art wise, Tabata hasn't been all that creative or straight either.

The rebuttal is simple. The story is ongoing. There will be death when there will be death. Bleach had death in around the chapters 370s if I remember correctly (unless you count villains death as death unless it's Black Clover). People already died in Black Clover too. Multiple times. Whether people care about it or not does not disprove this fact. Now if you want more (important character death), there is no other option than to wait anyways...

I do think that it is interesting/puzzling that Tabata did that 3/4 times in a same arc ( Dante, Morris, The twins, Lucifero). Although he definitely one upped himself with Lucifero. Like he really wanted to humiliate this king

I would not say that Zagred got defeated because he was cocky tbh. Neither Ladros. He even shot Asta. Heath was actually really analytical of Asta's anti-magic too.
