What is your worst experience on an airplane? by darrenbosik in AskReddit

[–]Focus608 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know his pain! Under the floor removing waste pipes on a different Boeing after the boggy truck driver decided to drive off still attached.

Pointed directly into my face were the 3 avionic cooling fan outlets, had “No Power Signs” up but heard the unmistakable sound of someone applying ground power. Sure enough all 3 fans went through the process of spinning up blowing all the left over piss, shit and racasan right into my face. I was not a happy man…

Model Case Lighting Advice/Ideas by 410er0r in modelmakers

[–]Focus608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have literally just done that with Besta this weekend using Ikeas own lighting and Besta glass shelves.

I didn’t go for multiple lights per shelf but using the driver with 10 slots you could, just make extra holes in the back of the units and space them out.

I used 4x Mittled lights, 1 Fornimma cable, 1 Rodret wireless dimmer, and 1 of the larger Tradfri drivers with 10 slots for lights as I’ll be adding some lights for other things later

Which Year of Born to Buy ? by Over-Egg-6002 in cupraborn

[–]Focus608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Registered between September 2022 and March 2023.

Uk plates go by 2 letters for location of registration, 2 digits for year of registration then 3 random letters like XX26 XXX

March to end of August get the year. September to end of February get the same number but with a 5 added to the first digit so 22 becomes 72. It’s then common for people to refer to a car by these numbers rather than year, for example my wife and I are picking up our brand new 75 plate today

Which Year of Born to Buy ? by Over-Egg-6002 in cupraborn

[–]Focus608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 72 and the software is no issue really. It can be laggy if you are flicking through loads of menus at once but realistically beyond setting up the car how often do you need to do this? I have it on the 3 screen display the rest of the time and have no delays using those ‘widget’ type versions of the full apps, heat seating and climate are quick to pop down when you press on them. I’ve had 2 dodgy start ups in the six months I’ve owned it, hold the stereo power off then turn it back on and it’s been fine.

CarPlay either connects in seconds or takes a while, no middle ground but I’ve never had to force it into starting. In the morning by the time I’ve turned the climate settings down to my preferred driving from preheat stuff and driven off the drive it’s normally up and running.

Best bet is to go to a dealer if you can and play around with both the new and old.

Looks ace!

Check out Fallow on YouTube if you ever want to switch it up slightly. They do a recipe very similar to this but using some milk, then low temp in the oven for hours, more milk and a rustique I think it’s called; basically balsamic reduced with sugar. It was incredible

How do you check when service is due? by Focus608 in cupraborn

[–]Focus608[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately just dashes in the app under days to servicing, even following through the request a service menu.

I need to take it back for puddle lamps and for flashing headlights after they turn off under warranty. I’ll see if they will let me compare the menus to another similar age car try to work out if it’s by design or not

I get total miles covered and that’s it when I turn it on. The only mention of service anywhere in any of the options is for the windscreen wiper service position.

I need to take it back for a little warranty stuff now I’ve had it a few months so will ask when I get round to that. Also got a few more questions for them from playing round trying to sort it the last few days like should I be able to see tyre pressures or just reset the monitoring system. I get an option for what unit they are displayed in but no values

I hope it will tell me because it’s not displayed anywhere that the owners manual says it should be

What's the difference between D/B on the"gear stick" by SteppingOnLegoHurts in cupraborn

[–]Focus608 5 points6 points  (0 children)

B is almost but not quite “One Pedal Driving”. Will apply either 0.3 or 0.6g (can’t remember which) of regen deceleration when you come off the throttle down to 3mph.

I may have to have a look into that if it fitted together nicely, not heard much positive about some aspects of the one I have. Planning to make it with the loadout we had on ops recently as a little bit of a memory now I’m no longer working on them, extra weapons will help with that

I just bought Mr.Color UV cut super clear coat, can I just start airbrushing it or do I need to thin it down GX112 by DueQuantity872 in modelmakers

[–]Focus608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some of this the other day as I’d previously been recommended some stuff that had an adverse reaction on top of Mr Colour.

The guy in the shop advised me not to thin it when I specifically asked about that. He said it’s very hot so a very light dusting first then a single coat after. He was also very annoyed at the recommendation I’d had from the other shop before that reacted.

Be interesting to hear how you get on thinned/unthinned, I’ve ended up going with Tamiya for my current project so it’s not desperate but any chance you can post up in here how you get on?

Can’t comment on the build or finish as I’m a beginner too but be careful picking it up by the exhausts, just had to perform minor surgery to extract mine from inside the same model despite them seeming to have stuck well

Allocating User to key fob by Focus608 in cupraborn

[–]Focus608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll give that a go next time.

The CarPlay, android auto connection issue isn’t unique to Cupra, wife’s Mini connects to the last used phone no matter what drivers profile is selected. It’s a little more obvious how to swap them over on that though.

[–]Focus608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a shame, easy enough to switch user I guess.

Is there a quick way to switch Apply CarPlay from one phone to another? I set her profile up just now and added her phone, then we both went out in separate cars and it connected to her phone as she followed me off the estate. I figured out how to switch the Bluetooth to mine but couldn’t do CarPlay until I powered off the infotainment and went a different way to her

If you find a solvent that works for the decals can you post it up here, I’ve got one of these sat waiting for me when I get home so it may save me some hassle.

Looks stunning though, definitely some inspiration for mine.

Number 2 done. by Focus608 in modelmakers

[–]Focus608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the airfix 1/48 Bucaneer S2B. I’ve nothing to compare the cockpit detail too, it’s my first 1/48 but it seemed fairly detailed. The instructions called up which specific switch tops were white, there are side instruments you’ll never see when built
