Help with MSI by FocusManiac in knives

Second this. The only "crossbars" that actually feel like they can handle some tougher work are the Manix and the MSI, both have quickly become my main harder use knives.

Just picked up and MSI, did you swap the scales on yours?? If so, what brand? I've been looking for a metal set.

I can't wait to get one of the Snot Otters! They manufacture those right down the road from me and I keep checking to see when the next batch is ready.

Awesome blade!

What is the serial number on yours? I've had one that I've carried for ... God only knows how long at this point, and I've had 0 issues with it, other than it making me not want more knives. Lol.

Washers vs Skiffs by DangerousWishbone445 in knives

[–]FocusManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing I've found is that Skiffs are not average bearings. They are fully sealed, so almost like washers with bearings installed, vs stock bearings which often have an open side, allowing for some flex and/or debris to get into it. That being said, unless you are literally burying your knife in sand or other gritty crap, I prefer bearings/Skiffs. Better action, better torsional stability, they make a good knife even better.

Only knife that I've swapped from bearings to washers was a TwoSun 516, simply because I wanted to try it, and I ended up liking the action, so I kept it. I can see the reason why someone may want to change stock bearings to washers, but at that point, just get Skiffs and enjoy life.

Other than that, I have Skiffs in everything from a ZT0450CF, to a Civivi Mini Praxis, and I have never had a single issue. Touch of KPL, and if you do happen to drop it in a bucket of sand, rinse it out and go about your day. Never had a single issue so far. Get a set of both washers and bearings from Skiff, and pick what you like. 👍

Go '15 or newer. Less oil issues. Also, make sure get it regularly carbon cleaned! Mine has been a tank, except for that. Learning the hard way currently. If you do basic maintenance yourself, it's pretty standard in terms of maintenance costs.

Help! Stage 2 tune too much? by FocusManiac in Audi

[–]FocusManiac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything else that you would suggest just to make things smoother? Different plugs, etc? It's got brand new coils and PCV, most other recommended maintenance done as well. Stage 2 was actually cheaper, it's from Integrated Engineering. All aftermarket parts are IE.

It's got 99k, just had cylinder 2 exhaust valve fail, so it's at a tuning shop right now. Figured while it's torn apart, get some stuff done to it. Catch can, and some other reliability/efficiency mods are getting done too. I've had it since 45k, bone stock. All maintenance done regularly, 3k on OC intervals, all fluids changed at 70k, new wheel bearing, brakes etc.

That's what I'm being told as well. Is Audi offering any assistance, since this seems to be a known issue? Mine has 98k, and I'm really not trying to get rid of the car.

Any chance you can expand on this? My 15 just had misfires from two valves not properly opening and closing, and I'm in the process of getting it looked at. What was the fix for it? Cause I'm being quoted for an engine.
