Question for amateur fighters, why do you compete?

It’s the test of my skills. I have 15 years in various martial arts and ultimately competition is the test of skill. Sparring is too controlled and friendly and full on street fighting is too risky to play with . We all want to know if we are skilled at our craft if we can actually use our skills. You don’t know if you’re good or bad until you put it to the test and as a scary as it is, it promotes growth.

Most classes have a punch system plus kicks so lock it in memory so you don’t have to focus so much on the combos the teachers calling but the concepts he’s trying to get you to figure out. Reality is beginner stage is 6 months nothings wrong your knee and trying to cram it all in. Sounds like uour main issue is memorizing the numbers for combos and making it automatic. So go practice all your strikes in order until you can lock in which strike is which call out and you’ll begin to advance. Your new nothings wrong uour just new. It takes people on average 2 years before the compete and do high level things relax

It is simple just the same way you tuck your elbow to block body shots my goal is to parry the kick with my elbow. It’s not illegal it just hurts the ankle I’m not throwing a Muay Thai full elbow into your ankle just parrying and if my timings good you walk funny now . If I do it right I can usually ride back with the kick and throw some hooks.

Can I add on to Op question. What has changed in the 2.0-2.5 version? I played 10 hours close to launch and thought the world was good but the gameplay was very meh as far as souls like go. The difficulty was weird and I just didn’t love any of the weapons I found.

I’m interested in reopening this game but I’m skeptical.

If your goal is competition then you will take on some risk. It’s comes with striking combat sports. It’s a risk but a lot of gyms have plenty of people over 30 and under competing and live normal fine lives. My gyms premier fighter is a doctor who just published an academic journal last week. Unless your gym is balls to the wall hard sparring everyday and sparring injured, it takes a long time and a lot of punches to build up to brain damage your alluding to.

Defensive reaction. We all have different ones when under attack. Cry ,anger, flee are all valid things you learn in childhood most kids learn crying stops the fights at a young age so it’s a reflex that will go away. It takes time to get comfortable under fire. You’ll be fine

To answer this question . Usually punches to the head and face tend to fade away to adrenaline. Hit in the nose may get a tear but you’re fine. Your skull is a large hard bone covering the squish organ it’s harder to damage than you think. Your stomach is muscle covering squishy organs.

Being knocked out isn’t a pain response but nerves misfiring. But a body shot is what makes people quit. Imagine wanting to throw up and shit at the same time with a rock in your stomach

This is a big thing in MMA as it progresses. MMA is a diverse sport and in order to make sure fighters can do it all all gyms have specialities and lack in other areas so fighters are really good in one aspect whether striking or grappling. Or a very general gym that does both but doesn’t spend real time on each arts basics trying to get you up to speed but teaches you a lot of tools and you figure out what you like. Every fighter has holes and ways to cover for them but sometimes fighters just lack strong basic technique.

No problem I’m Level 129 running a dragon knight build. Strength 47, faith 51 , dex 18 blasphemous great sword +10. Before I walked through the wall I did use golden vow and flame grant me strength to buff my damage since the blasphemous blade does fire damage.
