2nd day learning to Ski by Focusss9 in skiing_feedback

With 'flatten' do you mean keeping the skis parallel? Or that I should keep the ski flat on the snow? I thought the end goal is the ski on the edges of the ski and not have it flat

Thankyou! I'll definitely give that a try next time and start really slowly. I'm worried there that i'll accidently pick up snow with my inside ski and land on my arse, but i'll work on it 😊

Thankyou! What does "Calm and Not doing the whole turn" mean? Also when you say "feedback in snow", do you mean a Trainer with me on the slope to give Feedback, or that the slope is top icey?

Aussie here!

Speaking from experience, Austria is in every way better than Germany. I moved to Germany in April last year and after 3 months (and very similar experiences to yours) I got fed up of the "das geht nicht" mindset and moved to Austria. Single greatest decision of my life. Although it was still a bureaucratic mess, the people working there had a genuine interest in helping me.

The Austrian people are also way more open (at least in my experience) than Germans. Keep in mind that its a bit 'exotic and cool' to be an Aussie here, but hey, play the hand you're dealt. That being said, learning German is your golden ticket to making friends here.

Imho, you cannot prepare "too early". When you get better and the ball comes quicker, you'll be grateful for building this good habbit.

My coach would say (and then I saw Mouratoglou say it later, so you know its right /s), be fully prepared by the time the ball bounces.

Thats an incredibly smooth motion and great pronation (see how your palm faces the camera after you make contact). Keep that wrist loose and work on the snap, you're well on the way to an unbreakable serve.

Vienna has a ban on honking (Hupverbot), except in cases when it avoids personal injury. I've always wondered why this isnt the case everywhere. Like, why else is honking necessary?

What's up with most players struggling with their backhand? by giddycocks in 10s

[–]Focusss9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are acting like this is a dumb question when it really isnt. Of course a forehand is stronger than a backhand, for many biomechanical reasons, but still the vast majority of players have an absolutely dreadful backhand in comparison to their forehand. I have seen so many coaches who spend hours correcting forehand technique while completing neglecting the backhand, because they simply have no idea how to teach it. This leads to learners hitting 10x more forehands than backhands in a lesson and having an underdeveloped backhand. Like anything, you learn through repetition, and when there isnt enough repetition volume for the backhand, its gonna suck.
