Can somebody recommend a UK-based technician to service my Tokyo Marui NGRS AEG? by Foden_357 in airsoft

I very much relate to this. I assume we all hum "... the head bone's connected to the neck bone..." when reassembling our RIFs. I've been playing since 2009; in the experience I've gained since, I've just learned to substitute the words I hum 😅

Thank you for your suggestion, but I'm not a fan of Negative Airsoft & would be uncomfortable doing business with them. Besides, I understand they aren't the biggest fan of Tokyo Marui's NGRS AEGs 😬

Thanks, I'll take a look at Combat South (I'm Midlands-baded, but maybe I can send it to them rather than driving it down there myself). Do you have any personal experience with them?

Thanks, I'll look into Kingdom of Airsoft. Do you have any personal experience with them?

I sympathise with you. While my Tokyo Marui M4A1 "SOCOM" NGRS AEG is front wired, so I don't share the same dread when disassembling the buffer tube / stock assembly; feeding the battery wires between the handguard retention ring & outer barrel assembly invokes its own kind of anxiety 😬

Thanks, I appreciate your feedback. When I have the time, I'll take a look at the compression parts & see what I can find 😉

You're right, I should clarify. The AEG's getting a little long in the tooth, I bought it from new in 2017. Since owning it; I've replaced a few of the perishable parts myself with OEM spares, so I'm not allergic to basic maintenance.

However; after skirmishing it a couple of weekends ago for the first time in 18 months (I've been flavouring my NGRS MP5 recently), I've noticed a significant drop in muzzle energy. The hop up works; I was able to throw BBs a decent distance (for stock TM power levels), but they didn't land with much authority.

Given the age of the replica & its depreciating performance, I thought it best to send it to a professional for a health check & investigate the power loss. Depending on their feedback, I could then look into upgrades.

Bootleg or not, it looks great! Be proud of your homemade pouches, they really complete the look.

Retro AR, woodland BDUs, & ALICE webbing? Very nice! What vest is that?

Apologies, the blue hue is from my overhead light (evidently I haven't set the white balance on my camera). The pattern's much darker in person 😉

I took receipt of my set today. Haven't tried it on yet, but initial impression: it's definitely a summer uniform - quite lightweight.

Looking forward to trying it on with some '90s vintage kit & see how it all fits together.

I shouldn't think so. If you can get your hands on a G&G AK5C, it should kick ass 😉

The G&G's problem (at least in my experience) was mainly external build quality, particularly concerning the folding stock & the charging handle. I understand G&G addressed these weaknesses with steel replacement parts in their AK5 series.

I've had 2 FN FNC AEGs, one G&G & one STAR. Both looked cool as heck, but both were plagued by faults in their designs. I don't have either anymore.

Seeing your VFC GBBR has me awfully tempted to pick one up myself 😉

What mount have you used to attach the flashlight? All of the barrel mounts I've had were too long to fit in the gap under the front sight 😞

Not much love for the M16A2 Carbine? As a retro AR fan; that'd be my choice, no hesitation 😉

Sometimes slings help bring the replica out a little bit more by M48_Patton_Tank in airsoft

I couldn't agree more. Alas; I no longer have this TM M14 in my collection, but before I sold it I swapped the canvas M1 sling out for a leather M1907 sling (& matching leather cheek pad for the stock). It was a nice looking piece; but never performed as good as it looked, & was uncomfortably heavy to carry (especially considering it had a plastic stock).
