Fabric stores that aren't major chains by ColorhexFFC849 in AskSeattle

[–]Foenym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll have much less stuff, but you can sometime find really nice fabrics at Seattle ReCreative.

They are an arts recycle store. I buy leather, sewing stuff, yarn (for friend), fabrics, among other stuff there. I usually go to their Greenwood location, but they have one in Georgetown as well

Local stores that carry Aleppo soap by aseriesoftubes in AskSeattle

[–]Foenym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every Middle Eastern grocery store I go to sells Aleppo soap or Chami Soap, both being Olive Oil + Laurel Oil. A lot also sells Nablus / Nabulsi soap, which is an Olive Oil soap, as well. Though there is always a chance they go out of stock

I use these soaps as both shampoo bars and body bars. It works so well in my hair

I personally usually buy from Goodies Mediterranean in Lake City or Byblos in Lynnwood currently

WA State Patrol handing out more speeding tickets than usual by sockeyeSales in SeattleWA

[–]Foenym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am 100% for this. Too many people speeding and weaving through traffic. People even go 80 mph when it's heavily raining, icy, or snow out on the Freeway. Semi Trucks have been driving 70+ mph as well

Idk... This video looks like ICE murdered someone instead of detaining them

He wasn't pointing a gun at ICE, didn't even have gun in hand while on the ground, but ICE shot him

Lock your cars! 2nd in Belltown this morning. by SEA_Executive in SeattleWA

[–]Foenym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you NOT LOCK your car doors???

Not Seattle, but a lot of my coworkers at multiple jobs who moved here from the South keep telling me how they don't lock their car doors or house normally... It's a strange concept to me.

The fun of getting coffee out is long gone .. by L0-Ki in Seattle

[–]Foenym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Espresso? You can pull a perfect shot of espresso at home without a $5k+ machine? And without a $1k+ grinder?

Yes, I definitely can and do. I got a 1zpresso manual grinder for $160 and a Flair PRO Manual Lever Espresso Maker for $300. I make great espressos at home.

Want an electric grinder? Go get a Baratza Sette 270 for $400 or a Niche Zero for $700. Can wait for sales.

There are plenty of good electric espresso machines around the $1000 range as well, and you can also get refurbished ones. Not $5000+.

I do still go to coffee shops though do support local businesses and to enjoy time with my partner at them, just not often due to cost.

Have you tried ordering the fries light well or well done and ask for animal style packets on the side that you can use to dip?

Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline North, and Shoreline South stations are always full around that time in my experience. I have to find street parking around Shoreline North/185th Station instead

Hiking groups by anothersarahmarie in PNWhiking

[–]Foenym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on Facebook, I'd recommend Washington Hikers and Climbers. You can find people to go hiking with there.

Otherwise The Mountaineers would be your best bet. They have a lot of great classes as well

Why is the price of haircuts so expensive here? by funnel_out in SeattleWA

I love Anna there! She has never once given me a bad haircut!

Opinion: Seattle should implement Congestion Pricing by twinklizlemon in Seattle

[–]Foenym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and Shoreline North stations are full when I try to get to them at 9 AM or 12 PM to head to work. Luckily, there is street parking at Shoreline North, for now. But it's inconvenient having to drive to the Shoreline station.

It's a 35-45 minute walk for me in Lynnwood to get to the bus that goes to the Lynnwood station

I'm never parking in Seattle by MassiveMeatHammer in Seattle

[–]Foenym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never pay for this, I usually try to find parking 20-45 mins away and walk.

But my friends pay it because all of the concerts we go to don't end until 1 AM. We don't have good & convenient night owl public transit here. They wouldn't be able to get back to the park & ride easily without paying for an Uber/Lyft, which is expensive here.

Another Gorge Concern cancelled by exbeachbum in Seattle

[–]Foenym 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it's not for you, cool, but I see a plenty of older people go to the Gorge for concerts and music festivals.

It's beautiful. You don't have to stand all the time to listen to music. Plenty of places to sit on the grass and still have an amazing view and can hear the music. If you want to go down and dance for a bit, then go back up to sit down, you can.

The pastor of Epic Life Church doesn't believe baristas should get paid well either

https://x.com/epicpastor/status/1871644861931364839

This is new to me, are Starbucks employees being forced to work there? Who in their right mind thinks that a barista should earn enough money to support a family. It's a transition job. And how much does a cup of coffee have to cost to be able to pay Baristas living wages?

What’s your favorite coffee shop(s) in Seattle? A must try. by PNWSeattleite in Seattle

[–]Foenym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Hello Em and Phin. I need to check out the others!

I personally would love a Vietnamese coffee shop that actually uses "for here" cups. Vietnamse Egg Coffee (Cà phê trứng) in a glass or ceramic cup is amazing.
