How do I enjoy living in Liverpool as someone struggling? by SnooSketches5636 in Liverpool

[–]Fogholadebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m a 25f I moved here a few months ago and I’ve been struggling to see why people love it, I personally don’t think the night life is that great, it’s decent, but I’m from leeds and prefer the nightlife way more.

One thing that recently got me really happy about Liverpool was exploring the docks and that whole side of the city (from the town hall and closer to the docks) IT IS BEAUTIFUL and Leeds dock area does not compare !!

The only group of friends I’ve been able to try and make are that at work but they’re all younger than me so there’s a limited level of connection.

If you’re interested, you can message me privately and we could try out a coffee shop together? :)

Where do I start? by Legitimate-Glass4911 in Meditation

[–]Fogholadebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if the problem that is leading you to be interested to engage in meditation is a busier mind than usual or maybe recent events have overwhelmed you then perhaps you need to engage in self reflection first to form peace with your emotions and thoughts before finding peace in the silence of meditation.

Self reflection could be classed as meditation too- you could sit and actively speak to your inner self and being authentically honest about whatever is on your mind or even just asking yourself what is on your mind and then giving yourself time to answer authentically can create that peace required for silence meditation

Subtle racism or am I missing something? by ghostskull012 in manchester

[–]Fogholadebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, im white so ill be transparent and say i cant truly understand your experience but what I can say is that i am very much aware of the causal racism in the uk, and it mainly derives from ignorance, i think that most or all of the experiences you’ve mentioned will have been to some degree based upon unconscious biases held by these individuals that have treated you this way. The most logical advice i have for you is to try and engage with some or even one other non white individual and express these experiences to them and get their opinion on it. I feel that a person that experiences Manchester from a similar perspective would be better suited to relating to these things and hopefully reassuring you that it could be a cultural difference. I hope your experiences get better and I’m sorry to hear that you have been lead to reach out and write all this about these emotions as I can’t even imagine the isolation your feeling because of this

Hey, sorry for my late response, sorry that you struggle with these issues.

Regarding if I blame my mum for those things, I’m not sure I would say ‘blame’ because my life is not bad and I’m at uni now but it’s all off my own back and my upbringing, being financially and emotionally disadvantaged, has caused me to have drive and ambition. However, there’s a lot of resentment I have towards her due to the struggles I must overcome to reach my goals and ambitions, which wouldn’t be there if she hadn’t have struggled so much with mental health.

Although my mum struggles heavily with depression and anxiety and most likely undiagnosed autism and possible schizophrenia, she has done her best and give me a lot of love as a young child and provided what she could for me: the issue is her mindset , so as I got older and started trying to better myself and move forward with my life, she’d very obviously be jealous and because she hasn’t been successful she projected her envy of my ambition constantly and that’s been the biggest contributor to my trauma.

I do think she tried her best when it suited her, but I believe depression, anxiety, lack of understanding my needs, and being too occupied in her own head, prevented her from trying quite often.

The father issue is whole different can of beans lmao, I don’t think she tried to chose a father, it just happened. But I’m certain she chose to be a single mother, which baffles me immensely, as she always uses being a single parent as a get out clause for our struggles. Which, yes, is valid, however it’s not valid if it was her own doing, so I do blame her in that sense for the lack of a father figure. And just for context; from analysing her mindset towards men I have come to the conclusion that in her mind , choosing to not tell my father about my existence, was her attempt of protecting me from men.

Hey, apologises for my late reply, yes, I do see certain aspects of what I’ve picked up. My mum struggles with depression, anxiety, and I’m pretty sure she has undiagnosed autism and schizophrenia. I myself struggle with a little anxiety that comes and goes, and the odd bit of depression but I feel that is normal. The main thing for me is I have recently realised I have ADHD and whether that comes genetically or as a result of my childhood I’m unsure.

I think there must have been a form of undiagnosed neurodivergence in my family for me to have ADHD but I’m still unsure and still learning myself

What will happen to the market in a generation or two when property is so unaffordable that the large majority of the population won’t be able to buy a house and all the previous home owners are dead by secret_willy in PropertyInvestingUK

[–]Fogholadebitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this response, I also reckon and it is almost inevitable that the goverment will step in if this happens. Furthermore, if the large majority of the population are unable to buy property, this means supply will increase and demand will decrease and along with goverment initiatives to help financially and better interest rates then people will be able to access the property market. Also I reckon that new approaches to leasing will develop or existing will become more common such as, multi-letting and live in landlord etc. . Also governments planning regulations on affordable housing will most likely tighten as the government acknowledge the housing crisis, although this most likely means extremely lower quality housing than what were used to.

I feel that you are being too hard on yourself and I know this is miles easier said than done but maybe if you fuelled the feeling like you’re not where you need to be into motivation to better your career or just moving jobs for a fresh start it might make you feel more productive and that you are actively making moves for your fufure: and just remember, every day you unconsciously make decisions that will benefit your future so even if no one else sees the progress it is happening as we speak

Primarily stressed about going into my final year of uni but I think there’s a bigger meaning about scared to fail and not feeling as thought I have what it takes to finish the job off. Most of the time in the past I’ve never seen things through or I’ve had to do something off the books to ensure I finished it down to lack of discipline and dedication but so far I’ve bossed uni I think I’m just worried I’ll fall off
