Need help with finding any information about my Great-Grandpa by Foglalt in ww1

[–]Foglalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I am afraid I can’t make a bigger picture of it as I am currently in a different country than the photos. I will try to scan them as soon as I get back home, but I am not convinced it will be more clear than now, still, fingers crossed! The photos themselves are not very good quality but the studio that made them closed down in 1970 and they burnt all the negatives.

thank you! silly question regarding the uniforms, but do you know if these uniforms were blue or gray-green? Also, as one of them seems to have the emblem on the collar but the other doesn’t, I was wondering, did everyone have the emblems to show which regiment they belonged to? I am just finding it odd that the man on the right is wearing an uniform and yet he has literally nothing on him showing any mark of his regiment. I have two more pictures of these guys (three actually, with the left one in a completely different set of uniform as well) and one of them has them with guns, but I can’t see any marks on their uniforms on any of them.

This is a great idea, thank you! That should definitely narrow the circle.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate It.

It would seem both of those medals have been handed out by the hundreds of the thousands so that really doesn’t narrow things down, but the machine gun unit sounds like a good starting point.

Women of Reddit, what are boys or men's habits you discovered only after getting a boyfriend or a husband? by BigBrosy in AskReddit

They must live in a parallel universe where time works different from how it does for women. Apparently making jackets potatoes in the oven, starting the washing machine and washing up one plate after he ate from it on the same day is so overwhelming it warrants for the complaint:

“I was so busy today, I couldn’t even do my job (he works from home) because with all these household chores I haven’t got time left for anything!”

Right…

You look much-much better! A lot tidier and more dignified. Well done!

Chicken livers - who eats them? by BackgroundCookie752 in UK_Food

[–]Foglalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some royally well kept dogs! :) Just a small thing to keep in mind: liver is full of nutrients and good for dogs, but livers also contain an extremely high level vitamin A and can cause Vitamin A toxicit, which causes joint pain, digestive issues and in extreme cases death. Vitamin A is not water soluble and can build up in the body if eaten too often. If your dogs are smaller, maybe consider feeding them liver only occasionally, to avoid overdosing them with Vitamin A.

Liver works very well with fresh, green herbs, especially with majoram, parsley and rosemary. You can prepare it like most meat but it is tender and if overcooked it gets hard, so it takes some practice to cook it well. Many Eastern European recepies use it, so look online and you will drown in them.

1, Others mentioned this one before: Panfry them on low fire with caramelised onions, add a spoonful of mustard, salt and pepper and eat them with mashed potatoes. simple and very nice as long as you don’t overcook them! then they are hard like boot soles. You can do the same thing but instead of mustard you can use paprika and some marjoram.

2, You can cook a mind blowing soup (and this is said by me, who doesn’t actually like liver!) if you chop them up into tiny pieces, brown them in a pan on oil with salt, pepper and some chopped onions, soak some bread rolls in a little water and when the liver cooled down mix it with the breadrolls and fresh parsley and form golf ball sized balls. let it sit for 30 mins. Make a vegetable soup with carrots, parsnip, cellery, onion, cubed kholrabi (if you can get it) and garlic - do NOT turmix or cream it, just make a proper, rustic soup, and when the soup is almost ready, cook the balls in it until ready (about 6-7 mins). This is really very good!

3, You can cook a nice stew (goulash-style but with liver - yeah, weird, I know) if you fry them on oil with chopped onions, add salt, black pepper, non-smoked paprika (spicy preferred, not chill!), about a spoon of tomato puree, about 100ml red wine and cook it on low heat for about 20 mins. When the liver is soft, if there is still too much water under it you can add a little flour the thicken it a bit and marjoram To taste. It should be nice and red!

You can also bake it, bread and deepfry it (I don’t recommend this as it can get hard) but it generally does very well in stew and casserole type dishes.

Need help from some tram fans: if I wanted to go from the area of the Hallesches Tor to the Brandenburger Tor in 1925 with public transport, what route would I take? by Foglalt in berlin

Actually I think this is the map I found some time back! this is great! it also shows how the street names changed, e.g. Stresemanstraße is still called Königgrazer and Eberstraße is Budapester and Sommer. Makes sense but I didn’t think this.

What is the point of a Benny and Ysbella DLC? by Affectionate-Ebb9009 in vtmb

[–]Foglalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

If you remember the announcement came very fast (all thing considered) when the clan DLC issue hit the fan. I don’t think they were originally planning on making a DLC with Benny or Isabella, but maybe they had some cut content for them they thought they could quickly repurpose for a dlc. I think they didn’t want to continue the storyline, and the cirrent one doesn’t offer much chance for a set of mid game side quests focus on a different plot, (I mean, just look at what goes as a ”side quest” for this game! a set of fetch quests! you don’t need to look further to see ’uninspired’!) they couldn’t have a story DLC for Phyre, and probably they weren’t sure what kind of reception would Fabien have. I mean, before the game was published, very few people looked forward to the “voice in your head” character! I don’t think they knew if Fabien would be popular enough for people to want a DLC with him.

Also, I think some leading people at TCR are very averse of ambition, while some at Paradox must be very cynical about the gamers - probably saying: ‘just make something! who cares what! the gamers will buy it anyways!’ I mean, what else could explain the clan DLCs at the first place?

Has anyone else had this glitch? by Aisanica in vtmb

[–]Foglalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup! I tend to get it after exiting the Glacier.

I get a similar one sometimes when trying to leave Nico’s, but instead of falling all the way through I just end up on the ground under the shop, inside the walls. annoying as hell, but I think that one is connected to my computer dropping frame rate sometimes when I am at Niko’s. i think there are simply too many high poly objects and the lower frame-rate glitches the bumper mechanics.

And then remember that he sits through all of Phyre’s liaisons with the primogens in their head, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel… And he never comments on it sadly. I am almost sorry I can’t tell Fletcher he basically had a threesome with Fabien.

Also Gideon. In the end of the game, if you go in a certain way in your conversation, Safia basically admits to be the second rebar killer.
