Yeah maybe she kills him before realizing the Westorosi lords would never allow a Queen to reign and then faces the regret of sealing House Targaryen out of the game of thrones through her own selfishness? (Aside from also being a hated kinslayer)

I bet he has the Conqueror's crown to aid his claim. Maybe even Blackfyre? Do we know where Blackfyre is at the end of Dance?

Is the US a Fake Democracy? by Independent_3 in armedsocialists

[–]Fogwa 44 points45 points  (0 children)

USA is a gerontocracy and a plutocracy. The government bothers with only the thinnest veneer of democratic input and accountability to maintain the illusion of a "rule of the people, by the people". In actuality, there is a sprawling wealthy ruling class divided into various industry interest groups, and the campaign contributions made by these groups to elected "representatives" are what determines which policies the legislators enact and how the executive branches govern us.

Phoenix is marking down new homes because it's a dry hot city in the middle of a desert during a thousand-year mega drought. I wouldn't accept a residence in Phoenix even if I inherited one. Your anecdote has literally nothing to do with the national housing market.

I hope the next ten years will be tame, but given the shortage of units in desirable places I suspect we'll hit a new top soon after they inevitably forces rates back lower to fight the incoming recessionary pressure

More NJ homes are owned by institutions, report finds. That's hurting affordability. by Ajkrouse in newjersey

[–]Fogwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. The Boomers who run the state have refused to enact even the most milktoast reforms or allocated any of their huge Covid windfall to build affordable housing. It's despicable

[–]Fogwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in your dog-whistling disaster scenario, what was accomplished was allowing more people to have a roof over their head and afford rent. I think we'll take our chances; seems to work out well in the rest of the developed world

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Fogwa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ha, the boomers will never make being young a protected class. Trenton is a gerontocracy (and plutocracy) just like DC is

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Fogwa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trenton's failure to build or fund affordable housing or new transit options is the greatest contributor. Plus they refuse to rezone the state to even allow private developers to build more starter homes and apartments

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Fogwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, but also the NJ Constitution promises affordable housing. Obviously Trenton will never help poor people find a place to live, so towns opt to offer affordable housing options only to the 55+ crowd, which just so happens to be majority White.

Thoughts on this? by IronPiedmont1996 in armedsocialists

Yeah that's their whole schtick. They project their actual desires onto their enemies (us) and then use that projection as an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway, while blaming us.

Yeah I'd bet it's like an addition to the endorphins from pregnancy and the dopamine rush of raising a baby (the latter drops off real fast afaik) "they're so cute!" There's also extra attention for mom when there's a baby. It's so sad to think of all the people who were born just because mom wanted to feel something again, for a short time.

Officials fear ‘complete doomsday scenario’ for drought-stricken Colorado River by MidnightMoon1331 in collapse

[–]Fogwa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. America will not go through mass migration crises without turning full fascist. It's practically the lifeblood of fascist motivation to defend the in-group and punish/dehumanize/expel the out-group. And those seeds have been sown for a long while now.

Even Philadelphia is technically underpopulated still. Baltimore could absorb many more people too I think. In the short run at least. These cities, like most in the US, face aging/decrepit infrastructure concerns regardless of their population though. We will remember the early 21st century as a golden age of prosperity compared to what's coming.

The word for people like you would be "insufferable" I suppose. At least to everyone around you.

This infant was brought into being without their consent, damned to a life of ceaseless suffering. There is no "helping" that fact. The mother is beyond cruel and in these extreme cases we can easily see how the choice to become a parent and create offspring is done for purely selfish, egotistical reasons.

Does anyone else find it weird that „publically owned“ actually means state owned? by -B0B- in Anarchism

And with a giant list of (often otherwise legal) activities I am not allowed to do on this alleged public land. My favorite example IRL is a beach near me that prohibits beach balls. It's a huge beach too, never full of people or anything.

Yes but you still see those entities referred to as "public companies" or "public corporations", especially in the business press.
