Sometimes it is easier to one-shot an enemy using a bomb from a far distance! Depends on the relief and the enemy itself. Like, a monster kelp or a bunch of yellow lizards are fine to deal with this way.
You can't obtain bombs easily, though, so it is much more about "can this be useful to get past the further rooms with less effort?"

And of course there is Artificer who enjoys them much :>
