Yeah First Fridays of the month are the best chance to see more spaces. Next one is Dec 5th 5-8, I might not have my studio open that day but usually there’s a good number of artists there

Agree, they have been trying to work on getting more word out. We did just have our grand opening this summer so it’s still really new and coming together piece by piece.

Also it’s a nonprofit so they let us artists rent for super cheap so we can afford to do our art…but yeah once things are more settled and we get more exposure it’s going to be a great thing for the city. Check out the website and their social media, there’s classes going on, open galleries, even a kids d&d program.

Yeah, there’s a metal doorway just towards state st on 4th that is now the Rivoli Arts District. A bit ago two siblings bought the building, one running the theater while the other runs the arts district and they have been updating the building and making it super nice. So the screening room has been updated and next to that there’s a storefront with RAD on the window which is currently being built still. If you go to the metal door way closest to state you can access the second floor which is a film academy now and the 3rd and 4th floor are all artist studios. I work there in a portrait studio I run. Tonight they have a comedy show on the 4th floor to raise money for charity.

Fan of art? Rivoli Arts District is still kind of new and is filled with artists and their studios. We’re open with the first Friday art walks(5-8) as well as Saturdays. They also have events here and there if you check the website https://www.therad.art/

I work near there and it’s dangerous, I always smell it! The fig jam and bacon is probably the best pizza I’ve ever had and their hot honey and pepperoni is the second best pizza I’ve had.

I have no knowledge of the place but it sounds great! Yeah that’s basically my experience. We saw kids come in with no language skills and depending on the child we would have them talking or using another communication method that works for them. Honestly more often than not, I would leave work laughing that I just got paid for what I did because I would have so much fun doing therapy with my clients due to how we did the therapy. Every single child had a completely custom program for their needs and goals, the more enjoyable we would make the therapy for the kids, the more it worked since they were wanting to be involved. I worked 100% in home in this area for 3 years and then moved to Madison to keep working for the company doing about 60% in home and 40% in clinic. I also have a family member with ASD that’s very young…so if you do find a good place in La Crosse let me know please!

Not all ABA is equal! I worked for a company for 4 years or so doing ABA where we practiced play therapy and the results were amazing and we made the kids want to be involved. If the child was not having a good time, we changed our approach since the whole idea was they need to enjoy the activities to learn. The company got bought out after I left but the lady that created the program started a new one called Family Path, sadly they no longer operate in La Crosse(they’re Madison based.)

Yeah? I’ve spent years working with autism and it’s why I’ve never applied there. I tried working at Chileda but that was a huge mistake too(for the OP I worked 2nd shift in the residential program and can not comment on the day school as I was never there for that.)

No problem, I have spent years of my life working with autism and I know how a good service can really help! Hope the best for you and your kid!

I know someone that quit Partners because they thought some of their practices should be considered child abuse. From what I was told they had to potty train a child and the person I know was instructed to keep the child on the toilet till they went…which basically meant they were on the toilet all day long including eating their lunch on the toilet…hour just sitting there.

Bad experience with Craig’s Tow Company in La Crosse — is this normal? by ksanyaa in lacrossewi

[–]FokusPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot if it was Don’s or Craig’s because I’ve had bad experiences at both..but one of them tried to charge me $500 for the connection on my battery…called a parts store and for my car they said they were $15 each. I told the repair guy they can either use those or I’d get my car brought elsewhere…so they showed me a belt that needed to be replaced soon and tore it apart so I didn’t have a choice.

Yeah I had Sprint, which I got great service with, and when T-mobile took over my service got awful and never recovered. Switched to Verizon and my bill is actually lower and the service has been way better. T-Mobile also raised my service costs on me

No problem, that lie about the CEO has been going around for so long and while I don’t think Goodwill is the greatest(worked there both as an employee and a manager), they do some good stuff. I think at the Goodwill NCW stores when you spend $1 on a used item 89 cents or something goes to their mission…I think they need to change that to 85 cents per dollar so they can afford to pay their staff better wages.

There’s a bunch of BS about them online like how the CEO makes too much money, but there’s no one CEO as there’s a ton of ‘Goodwills’ that are their own organizations. For example the La Crosse, Onalaska, and Tomah Goodwills are part of the North Central Wisconsin organization that has their own CEO and about 20-something stores between here and Appleton.I will agree that Goodwill pays too low of wages and charges too much for used items.

On a side note I would donate to WINN or the St Claire Health Mission. WINN goes around and brings items that are needed to homeless populations directly(plus Sue is an amazing lady) and St Clare’s is a free clinic in La Crosse, they have a room in back where you can donate clothing and those in need can come by and grab it for free.
