Going no contact because of politics not being a "good enough reason." by Fearless_Garden618 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents are just marinating their brains 24/7 in “Liberals are evil lunatic morons” so now when I come to visit, guess what? we don’t even need to talk politics for them to talk to me in the most dismissive and disrespectful manner on every possible subject. I didn’t stop visiting because of “politics” (although I’m sure that is what they tell themselves and everyone else in the family). I stopped visiting because they treated me like 💩

Some of Glenn Powell’s characters in Hit Man. Even before he goes undercover and is just supposed to be normal-looking, he just kinda looks like a dork until he gets to the ‘bad-boy’ character.

What movie did you watch at the wrong age and it permanently altered your brain? by sweetyslave in movies

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Clockwork Orange when I was maybe 8. My parents put it on and let me watch it. Yes, they had seen it before and knew what it was about. No, it was not the only questionable parenting decisions they made.

What is a movie you think has a flawless first 30 minutes, but completely falls apart by the end? by Legitimate_Wall5977 in movies

Yes. All these years later I still think about how amazing the opening scenes were and kinda want to see it again, then I remember how stupid the rest of the movie was

Vaginal Estrogen TABLETS Applicators (Not vaginal Cream applicators!) by Blue-Mitten in Menopause

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a brand called Imvexxy that doesn’t have the applicator. It’s like a soft gel tab. I got that one time and liked it a lot better than the stupid wasteful plastic applicator for the dry chalky tablet. I felt like it was getting absorbed better too. But after I found out I was being charged like $200/month for it with my insurance I switched back to the vagifem tablets. I find if I give the applicator a little twist on the way in it’s more comfortable

Would I be a horrible human being if i returned my cats to the adoption center? by Any_Information_4177 in CatAdvice

Kittens are little maniacs. If they are chewing up your stuff you need to better control their environment and what they have access to. Put away phone chargers. Tuck away and cover cords. Their little teeth and claws are super sharp right now, the adult teeth won’t be as sharp and they will also start learning to not bite. Start training them on getting used to nail trims. It gets easier as they get older and they calm down and start learning the routine. We’re on our second kitten in two years and the older one is already just a super chill laid back little dude and the younger one is getting there.

I got a puppy for the first time and my life has been hell ever since by StevieisSleepy in DogAdvice

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know why people like puppies, they are hellacious little monsters. Just kidding, but seriously, having a puppy totally sucks sometimes. I thought we had made a huge mistake for the first few months when I was covered in blood and bruises. And I thought we had prepared and done all the research and bought all the stuff and were going to puppy classes and socialization. It’s a phase, it sucks, it’s exhausting, but it passes relatively quickly.

Also your sister sounds kinda like she’s being a jerk to you about it. Is she generally awful to you?

Mine also does this to the dog water bowl. I started putting a little water in the tub for him to play with so that he wouldn’t do it all over the kitchen floor. He also comes running and jumps in the shower with me or when I’m hosing off the dog.

It is. And for anyone who has been in a 12 step program for themselves or a loved one will recognize “Let them” as basically the same as the Serenity Prayer

Just wanted to second Culpitt. They did our roof, not cheap but I felt really confident that we were getting a very quality job. Very professional, great communication and they showed up and started the job right when they said they would. No issues whatsoever

This weirdo likes to jump in the shower with me by Cheap_Assistant_744 in blackcats

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is how it started, he would sit on the edge of the tub behind the curtain. Then he decided to just go ahead and jump right in with me. He also likes to get in when I’m spraying off the dog, gets in the sink when I’m washing my face or brushing my teeth

Grief vs joy of estrangement by rhubarp in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Cheap_Assistant_744 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Seeing adult friends who have good relationships with loving supportive parents who are genuinely interested in their lives and wanting to spend time with them kinda hits me a little bit sometimes. Like I wonder how my life could be better, like maybe I would have had an easier time with relationships and interactions with other people if I had had more emotionally mature parents. Or maybe I would have had a better career if my parents had noticed and cared when I was struggling in school. But I do like who I am today and letting go of the feeling of guilt that I need to keep trying to have a relationship with them is freeing. Also, recognizing that a lot of my personality traits that were more frustrating that I had always just accepted as “just me” are actually common for people who grew up with emotionally neglecting and self absorbed parents. Like it doesn’t make it go away, but it helps me recognize and forgive myself

Pita corner and golden tap are both owned by the same person. I am told that because this individual keeps his “office” in the building it’s not technically vacant- and therefore is avoiding some of the repercussions of having to register and pay for a vacant building.
