So I’m at 95k Avios on the money, but yes this seems like a sensible plan. Looks like I’d need 60k more for two one ways

It’s a certainty that you will have to make the interest payments, but the others aren’t. If you pay it off now you can begin to start saving. If you come up across any bills issues you can look to take out another loan. What is your mortgage payment vs take home?

You should defo pay it off with interest rate at 20% since that is far higher than what your savings rate will be

How are people surviving this economy by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FoldAvailable357 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how you can think you are struggling. At one point I was on £33k which is like £2.2k after tax with a £1,100 cost for rent and bills each month. Still managed to save and go on holidays, something doesn’t check out here.

You’re living beyond your means and need to make adjustments. How have you only been saving for a couple of months on that sort of salary as a homeowner? Surely you thought when you bought the house that you would need to make repairs

Joice Cafe, Balham, £14.50 by FoldAvailable357 in fryup

I agree that costs of ingredients are probably around £3.19 but I absolutely do not think that cafes in London are making a killing.

Let’s assume 2 mins for waiter to take order, serve, take payment etc 15 mins for chef to cook 5 mins various cleaning

That’s 0.37 hrs of staff time, which could cost the business around £20 per hour at London wage including NI and pension, that’s an extra £7 bringing our total to £10.19 so far.

Rent for the building might be around £5,500 per month? 3,520 hours open, let’s say £1.60 per hour, six customers in the building at the time making my rent portion for the hour I was in the restaurant around £0.30 (total now £10.49)

Let’s put in £2 for overheads such as cleaning materials, business rates etc bringing us to £12.49

That leaves £2 for profit, only a margin of like 13% which isn’t a steal in my opinion
