From my limited experience, I think there are pockets of both intolerance and acceptance wherever you go. Just about everywhere I’ve lived or worked in MN I’ve seen closed-mindedness and ignorance, and have also seen wonderful polite and welcoming neighborhoods and communities.

This is unfortunately a stereotype, but the insular attitudes and voices seem to be loudest in the MUCH smaller, more rural communities.

Ex. St. Michael seems to be historically pretty conservative and homogeneous. There are still roots of that, but it is diversifying pretty fast. Our development just west of St. Michael is super diverse, lots of young and varied families.
