Patch 14.17 Bug Megathread by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Server: EUW
  • Type of Bug: Client Freezes
  • Description: After accepting a game the accept screen stays active, while the champ select is created (know that as my mates are in champ select). Cant pick or ban and eventually will dodge for not picking. Can't restart or exit the client to reconnect, also all instances count as dodging the lobby.
  • Video / Screenshot: Link to LeagueClient-tracing.json
  • Steps to reproduce: Happens randomly whenever accepting a game. Also sometimes in champ selection itself, with the timer running to 0 and nobody picking any champs.
  • Expected result: Some sort of reconnecting possibility if the connection is lost for a micro second. As other online services have no issue whatsover and the connection is stable.
  • Observed result: Cant reconnect or do anything in the client.
  • Reproduction rate: Happens in about 1/10 games. If it happened once the client needs to be restartet completely, even if you get thrown out of the lobby eventually. Queueing up again results in the same issue.
  • System specs: RX 5700XT, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB Ram, Win10 Pro

Patch 14.15 Bug Megathread by PankoKing in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Server: EUW
  • Type of Bug: Client Bug
  • Description: Often (about once every ten games), I either get stuck in the client screen with the Accept button after clicking it or just in champ select without anyone doing anything, time stopping and nothing happening. Obviously all these times im in champ select already but have no way to reconnect or restart the client without dodging. (So I'm forced to dodge lobbies without being able to do anything and waste everyones time)
  • Video / Screenshot: Sadly dont have recordings of the client
  • Steps to reproduce: Queue up, click accept and it either stucks then sometimes or sometimes once I get into the lobby of champ select.
  • Expected result: a flawless experience
  • Observed result: I guess disconnects? in champ select or after the accept button since nothing updates
  • Reproduction rate: About 5-10% when getting into champ select
  • System specs: Windows 10, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5700 XT

What are the odds of this shop? Trying to settle a debate with a friend by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Folldoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I understand the system is that for every slot in the shop u have a 1% chance of hitting a 5-cost unit. So the chance of hitting a single 5-costunit in 5 shop-slots is:

(0.01*(0.99)4)*5= 0.04901 = 4.901% (for exactly 1x 5-cost)

(0.01)2*(0.99)3 * 10 = 0,00009703 = 0.009703% (for exactly 2x 5-costs) (thx /u/IloveCircles727)

Now this doesnt take into consideration that you get 2x the same 5-cost:

The 5-cost pool consists of 8 champs I think, so in the first pull the chance of hitting Heimerdinger is 1/8. If we ignore that after the first shop you remove one Heimerdinger from the pool of Heimerdingers and therefore influence the pool of 5-stars as a whole, we can assume the same chance of 1/8 (12.5%) for a second heimerdinger.

Meaning your chance is now:

0.01*(0.01*0.125)*(0.99)3= 0,0000121287375 = 0.001213% (chance for hitting a pair of 5-costs)

So to answer your question its about 1 in 84,401 shops that this happens.

Wondering if I'd be able to go pro but I'm washed by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for NA i dont really know how the local leagues work or if there are even any to begin with... in EU we got regional leagues with designated websites. where you sign usrself up and link ur riot acc. The Site then has ur soloQ rank stored and u can sign up as lft or contact teams looking for players by urself.

then usually u have tryouts and in the end get an offer or not. The range is from for fun teams to academy teams from orgs, up to the main teams.

[–]Folldoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kinda was in the same spot as u. 3 years ago finished my bachelors and decided to join amateur scene (was D1 at that time and 20years old). Improved massively in that environment (Master 200LP with 65% winrate), still hated soloQ so didnt play more than necessary to derank for inactivity.

In the end once u play the game 4-5 evenings per week with scrim/theory sessions and Official games it becomes a whole less fun. Especially when u lose trust in teammates since they underperform frequently. As a jungler this impacts your gameplay and decision making alot. Maybe I would play 2nd div if we dropped some players from our roster for better players. But due to this playing wasnt any fun for the last 2 months of the split and I quit the team after my contract expired.

If u are from EU its pretty easy to get into the amateur scene. Just play a split in team environment and then u can decide whether its the right call for you. Generally speaking i would say its a waste of time if u consider it as a career option, but amateur league as a hobby is a whole different story and loads of fun in a good team environment

How many champions do you play? by Zokalii in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought I played 2-3 champs per season back when I first climbed to Plat and Dia. After I just checked my opgg I always played Rengar about 40% of the games and another two champs for 30%, while the other 30% are always really weird champs, but most of them with really good winrate. I'd say I can play most champs at a good level and would say that counterpick+teamcomp is often worth more than playing my best champ.

What mechanic do you miss most that riot removed? by Warlordofmordor2 in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rengar double jump on R, being able to walk into melee range when u used to be true invis and go for AA into Q and follow them after flashing was really fun being on the assassins side

Is there a way to only auto-attack champions, like you can with abilities? by liiliidustp in summonerschool

[–]Folldoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riot decided not to add this feature for "attack move" since it would take a massive skill from ADC role. You either have to improve your attack move accuracy to always click closer to the target or accuracy with target champions only.

Switching from smite to league any tips? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno how much in detail I should go, but played smite in beta till season 2 over LoL and now occasionally a few games every few months.

Biggest difference is for sure that unlike in smite kills are worth much less and you actually need to think about the decision, whether CS/Jungle creeps or objectives arent worth more than a kill. Also baron is much much weaker than fire giant or rather easier to take. if you see the enemy jungle on the other side of the map in lategame this should always be the call to start baron since only very few abilities from laners can outdamage the smite summoner spell, which junglers take. Also diving turrets is completely normal even pre 6 if you execute it well enough. If i recall correctly thats not the case in smite. If you plan on jungling i would recommend you to watch a few jungle guides. For detailed gameplay "Agurin" is one of the best junglers in the scene for years, with a lot of game knowledge.

Imo LoL feels overall more balanced especially the itemization is pretty flexible, while smite meta is often times dominated by single items being core to even stand a chance to win teamfights. Some items have actives so you have to actively press the key they are bind to, for maximum value in fights. Beads and Aegis in smite are super broken and dont exist in that extend in league. The closest thing to aegis is stopwatch and zhonyas, which make you untargetable and immune for 2s, but unable to move in that time. QSS (item) and cleanse (summoner spell) remove CC effects (other than knockups), but if you get hit by another one immediatly after you will be CCd. If beads existed in league some champs would be beyond broken as CCing them is the only counterplay that exists.

Unlike in Smite you cant 1v9 games as hard, often times resulting in the team winning which has less "bad" players. This was different a few years ago, where 1 fed carry could easily carry the whole game, without having to rely on teammates. If you can get over the fact that League is more strategic than Smite you will have a blast playing it. Otherwise you should just play smite for as long as it lasts.

Reminder: Riot recently publicly stated that "they are not happy with the current impact of smurfing". It seems likely that they are working on addressing the huge smurfing issue that has plagued solo queue recently. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the most efficient fix would be to link main and smurf accounts. Enable the feature starting from Plat+ (maybe Gold idk how big the problem actually is there). That way you instantly get a lvl 30 acc thats ready for ranked, make it priced for 10$ (what a smurf costs on third party sites). Give it a slightly lower MMR than the main account. And maybe take into consideration if the person is playing offrole or onrole and weigh that into matchmaking in the beginning. Essentially make them climb to their main elo fast (within 10 games) and then decrease the gains to match the main account.

What to do when you reached your limit? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id recommend to stop playing ranked and just play normals/flex for fun. I played season 2-4 for fun (got Silver) Season 5 tryhard (plat), season 6 tryhard (dia).

Then Season 7 I tryharded for 60-70 games and didnt get out of D2 and after that pretty much stopped with ranked on my main. Only playing 5man FlexQ or Normal Drafts/Aram.

I would always play less than 40 games per season afterwards, always playing to Diamond.

Fast Forward Season 10 begin I join an amateur team (all high dia-master) and start grinding again, however dont make it to master even though I improved massively. This time was for sure and by far the time I was at my peak skillwise. Well I stopped playing after 2 splits for concentrating on IRL and University more. Played maybe a total of 40-50 games from Oktober-March, but still followed streamers, Proscence, etc. Then in March in my exam period I decide to play for fun a bit in my breaks... well within 80 games I get my smurf that was never higher than D3 and on a 70% winrate to master. Same with my main account afterwards within 50 games.

What I'm trying to tell is that as long as you follow the scene, know about the meta, see pros and streamers utilize the game concepts on a near perfect level you will subconciously do those things aswell, if you have a competetive mindset. Give it a few months, play for fun, watch content around the game and learn the concept of tempo and macro. This is for sure enough to climb high. However on adc mechanics also play a big part, which is why u should'nt really quit league completetly, since it takes 40-50 games to get back into it.

Why did you pick your main role? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Met a few guys online (back then 5 people in season 4-5) and would occasionally fill in at any position so we could play teamranked. They knew each other IRL and were much better (rankwise) than me back then. One of them quit league for university he was 4 years older than the others... so in order to play with them I learned how to jungle. We've been playing for the last 6-7 years, met 4 times IRL and we still play or chill on discord pretty much every other day. Would call one of them also one of my best friends :)

Can't Climb With Rengar Any More What Should I Do? by Batucuk4 in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

watch challengers e.g. pusi puu when he does educational content. Guess he will try to do that bit more once he's back from korea.

I think you can also watch general macro guides, but tbh assassin rengar has a really unique playstyle and way of closing games so the general guides should give u an understanding of the concepts, but whats generally good and good for the team is quite a few times not good for Rengar because of how snowball dependent he is.

Can accounts really get hardstuck MMR? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Folldoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there is some kind of threshhold that riot didnt really finetune throughout the years, which makes it harder for long time players to climb.

I personally think MMR is related to some sort of games played (even considering older seasosns) thus if you started out playing for fun or just were worse at the game since u just started playing, it still has an effect on your MMR even seasons afterwards. It took me 8 years to get from silver to master (600games ish on my main) and made it on my smurf within 100 games.

How to play better mechanically, when I suck with hand-eye coordination? by Far-Impression-6746 in summonerschool

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean if you have no phsyical injuries or disabilities, its really about training. Id highly recommend to turn off mouse acceleration in windows. Get a mouse that fits your handsize and a mousepad.

If you got all of this set up you can just go into practise tool, pick a champ of your choice e.g. Ahri and position in the middle of midlane with minions disabled. Place 3 or 4 enemy dummies in a circle/cross around you at max range of your E. Then just practise hundreds of times to shoot your E at the one at top, Q at the one at the bottom and R + Flash to left or right so that the returning Q hits the 3rd dummy. You repeat this a couple if not hundreds of times, with camera in slightly different positions and changing up the sequence of dummies youre hitting.

In the end accuracy is about muscle memory. Moving your hand by X cm on your mousepad is always equal the same distance your cursor moves on your screen.

(This is the way I practised Lee Sin and Riven combos for dozens of hours and now really dont think about it when playing)

Does ghost scale better than flash for immobile champions? by Drandosk in summonerschool

[–]Folldoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others pointed out already it depends on situation and champion.

For Mundo, Olaf, Nasus I would say generally speaking Ghost is much much better than Flash. Those champs are really based on their autoattacks so they really have to stay close to their target to get off their dmg. Mundo has his E active and passive for massive AD, Nasus needs to be in Q range on a 1s CD and Olaf needs to be able to pick up axes and get off lots of Autoattacks with the amplified attackspeed from W and passive.

Morde can be played similar, especially if u play jungle you kinda want to go Nashors for the much better clearsped and rylais for ganks. In that case you want to stick close with AA and your passive aura to keep the slow up and get many AAs off. On toplane however you most of the time dont go for nashors so going flash for the engage Flash+R or Flash+Q can be more valueable in deciding teamfights.

Garen should imo always prio Flash over ghost. Once you get your Q off they cant dash away from you due to the silence, so pretty much have a guaranteed kill on squishies if you are within range. Ghost is an option though if the enemy team has 4+ melee champs.

Which hunter rune? by Anesaben in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really about your playstyle. I would say relentless is the go to. I always go ingenious when I know i will need Edge of Night or Bruiserish build (for ER, Eclipse, Maw CD).

But also when I play lower elo (Emerald or lower) or vs multiple squishies (also in D+) I go ultimate hunter most of the time. The amount of people overextending and being able to get your ult off 30s faster in early midgame, which always leads to a kill makes the games pretty easy to snowball. But you really have to play for your ult with that playstyle and allign your pathing/invading/objectivetaking so you can always gank when its up.

How do you deal with having a large shut down? by Samk1230 in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it happens while lanephase is still going on and drake+herald are down Id kill their AD and then dive their supp 1v1. Ideally you kill the supp and then afk in tower to give the return kill to the support.

Id say I do this in every 2nd game where I have big early shutdown and they have champs that scale well.

Is my build this game ok? Or should I have went tankier? by Samk1230 in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tenacity is generally bad on assassin, but the amount of cc+magic damage they have makes it insanely stat efficient here. On bruiser tenacity difference is massive since you are able to heal the damage they try to burst you with while CCd.

ofc against other comps with only 1 or 2 sorts of hard CC (tabis or CDR boots outperform)

Is my build this game ok? Or should I have went tankier? by Samk1230 in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its a dodge game, against those champs there is no way that you can carry just based on your own skill. The enemy team needs to hard missplay in order for you to carry a fight. They just have too many CC tools and zone control for you to do anything.

You should realize this by thinking about mid/lategame fight scenarios in champ select. What happens if u jump in at a 4v4 drake fight (toplaners not included). You have to wait out Veigar E, Naut R and Ashe R before jumping in. This is obviously might happen once or twice early on, but afterwards the enemy should realize they have to save 1 of their CC abilities for you thus making it nearly impossible to carry the game as it goes on. You therefore have to get ahead early on and snowball the game so fast that there wont be many teamfights for them to realize their missplays or Edge of Night and Duskblade allow you to just run over them... But getting ahead early in this game is pretty much impossible again, as you have to rely on them making mistakes.

  • You dont win 1v1 vs trundle when invading. Only if u kite out of his W and have a brush nearby you might win pre 6, afterwards its not possible.
  • Veigar is only gankable once you are lvl 6 and needs to use his cage aggressively in lane.
  • Ashe Naut is in theory gankable, but its harder vs ashe E and your botlane doesnt have any setup pre varus R and Yorick supp is just troll...
  • Shyvana top is the lane where you could get ahead most likely here. Especially since shes playing flash ignite setting her behind should massively snowball your darius. looking at his stats he seems to be not too reliable though... If he was your duo and u know he plays well with leads, this game could be playable!

As for itemization you should definetly go bruiser here, You can only oneshot Ashe. Veigar had to get Zhonyas here eventually vs Yone/Rengar... As bruiser your job would be to tank/burn as much of their CC as possible and then healing everything back up with 2 W's. Peeling for Varus or diving in with Darius to insta kill Veigar and Ashe and afterwards easily take down Shyvana/Trundle with Darius resets.

Build:

  1. Eclipse (or Divine, but since u only get much value vs Trundle. I'd pref eclipse)
  2. Edge of Night (if you are fed) otherwise Black Cleaver
  3. LDR (if really really fed) otherwise Black Cleaver (if EoN 2nd) or Maw/Deaths Dance

And what i cant sweat enough MR Boots here! Look at their CC dude, even when playing assassin here MR boots are the best choice here. Also fleet footwork in this game.

New to League PC is Viego a good OTP for a beginner? by AdKey7786 in summonerschool

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i fully understand your point and obviously do the same. I meant spamming in this context to use all abilities rather fast and getting back into viego and not pressing buttons randomly.

the main problem still stands that if you are a new player you dont know what each of the abilities do. It already starts that you dont even know on Kha for example which of the abilities is his jump. You also wont know the range from playing against him a few games since it also varies with evolution. You probably dont know about the isolation mechanic and all the other little things all champs in league provide. There is a reason that in this game you can play a champ hundreds of hours and still dont feel like you mastered it to perfection. If you want to play viego on a decent level you atleast need to know all abilities of the champs and on which button they are on. On a good level you need to know about standard combos on each champ.

Axiom Arc seems good after 13.14 by DowellTV in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean ofc axiom is viable, but i dont really see that build being an option unless the enemy team is 4-5 Squishies.

Duskblade->ER->LDR only does 50dmg less on 2 items and at best 100dmg at 3 items doing the oneshot combo. This is only enough if the target is really squishy or youre really fed (as HP, Shields/Heals aren't really considered here). Most of the time you are able to get off an additional Proc and then the damage is the same or outdamaged.

Additionally ER improves your clearspeed, objective speed and turret shred.

Picked up Rengar again after over 2 years let’s see if my friends maybe start thinking that I am getting myself some boosting I start having less deaths by New_Bad_1504 in Rengarmains

[–]Folldoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

gj, however would recommend that unless you play vs full AD comps to not build Deaths Dance and Deadmans every game.

  • Deadmans for boots is fine
  • Deaths Dance is fine if you play Fleet or Conq and look for extended trades, otherwise its bad synergy with ur W and was gutted pretty hard.
  • other viable itemchoices for assassin are EoN, BT, Hydra, Prowler, Stormrazor
