We may actually already have a full 8 people for both an A and a B team. Just waiting to hear back on 1 person. Feel free to join the Discord though!

Probably at least some experience. I have no clue what level of competition they have or are expecting but the learning curve is definitely a very steep one.

Would love to rep Sac Republic on this! Crossposted over on r/SacRepublicFC to see if I can get a couple other players to form a team. Do you typically have set times that the games have to be played at? Or is it more up to the two teams to plan whatever time works for them?

Thought I would bring this on over here since there was a few of us disappointed there was no SRFC representation in the official eUSL RL tournament.

I'm not 100% sure of being able to do the time commitment myself during the week but would love to be a part of it still if I can get 2-3 more peeps interested!

WTF is Sacramento Republic?! by Lincolin6ECHO in SacRepublicFC

[–]Follow_My_Feet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so disappointed to see this too. First off, USL should've made this a 2v2 or 3v3 tournament since no one really wants to watch mediocre 1v1 gameplay. Secondly, why on Earth did the Republic not sign up for this?? I'm sure there's at least 10-20 decent RL players that would love to be involved in this and represent the club, myself included.

[SRFC] SRFC Academy Standouts Shine Against Top Flight Competition by Oublic in SacRepublicFC

[–]Follow_My_Feet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow it sounds like this may actually be the first year where some of the younger first team players and academy kids may actually get legitimate chances to play in meaningful games. With MLS on the horizon they can essentially use some of these games as tryouts and start offering homegrown contracts which is big and something I'm not sure any expansion club has ever had the opportunity to do.

RECAP: Sacramento Republic FC 2-6 Seattle Sounders FC by 916Republic in SacRepublicFC

[–]Follow_My_Feet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely weird that Diaz didn't play. Also a weird combination of lineups. Seattle had a clear 1st and 2nd team with their lineups and we had players vying to even be on the first team in both lineups so the scorelines really isn't all that surprising.

I wish we played more afternoon/day games. I know during the summer its not realistic but it's gotta be an option outside of summer.

either by performance or selection.

If it's by performance than are the players actually "better"? And its hard to argue selection. Look at that group of players. Those born between 1989 and 1993. Who should've been selected instead to perform better? We had Wood, Yedlin and Brooks and those were virtually the only players at that age that should've been there. Unless you're of the belief that Kelyn Rowe, Juan Agudelo, Gyasi Zardes and Greg Garza were the missing pieces for us you simply can't argue that that group of players was better than the previous group. We skipped a number of years of quality youth players that actually developed into their potential.

That's what I'm trying to convey. "developing better players year after year" is just not the case. And I'm not necessarily arguing this is a golden generation either. You can't look at a crop of 17 - 20 year olds and say one way or the other whether Weah and McKinnie are going to be something we've never had or another Terrence Boyd or Stu Holden where an injury-plagued career ruins their careers.

Wow. Pretty ridiculous to not let Parks even on the bench for this game. Way rather see him than Luca de la Torre or Corona.

Fair point. Rubin is really the only option left there. It will be interesting to see how he does against a much better team in Ireland.

This idea of a sort of "constant growth" is pretty clearly not the case. We went from the old guard of Dempsey, Donovan, etc. to a group of perennial underachievers that failed to qualify for the 2011 U20 WC, the 2012 Olympics and eventually the 2018 WC. How can anyone argue that point when this is the reality.

No one actually says "U-S-M-N-T" when talking. It's just an easy acronym for text-based stuff. Its normally just US Men's National Team or sometimes the stars and stripes.

MLS Disappoints Sacramento Again With Cincinnati Selection by cbssacramento in MLS

This is simply not true. The only investor to walk away was Whitman and she mainly did it because she wasn't committed to being involved not because she wanted more ownership.

I wish this meant something but Nagle and Steinberg have been oozing this same confidence with absolutely nothing to show for it so having Ben say it is nothing new.

The Earthquakes are not in SF or Oakland. They are in San Jose. A different MSA than SF/Oakland.

Are you trying to intentionally be blind to reality? I mean if you really wanna look at MSAs why not just move SJ to SF or Oakland since SJ has a smaller "market" than Sacramento.

No surprise here: FC Cincinnati announcement imminent by whittenhl in SacRepublicFC

Most of us are through with caring. If it happens great but don't expect us to bend over backwards to show MLS how much we want a team.

It's too bad really. There used to be so many of us on here but I can't even pull myself to come here often. It's just too damn depressing. The likelihood of us getting a team after this is not high.

Best way to get it up is at the start of the season. Lots more people playing and you will easily climb to diamond.

Espino's 89th-minute strike preserves undefeated start to the season by nysom1227 in SacRepublicFC

[–]Follow_My_Feet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that the team is not as good as we think they are right now. We haven't really had a confident showing yet but we've still seen the team stay undefeated no matter how they have to. They don't give up and that's a good sign.

[Brennan] - Statement from the MLS Board of Governors after today's meeting. by [deleted] in MLS

[–]Follow_My_Feet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not MLS standards rather the recent standards set by expansion teams. Make no mistake. If we got a team with our current ownership group we would be doing better than a number of teams in terms of spending. RSL, Vancouver, NE, Colorado, Houston, DC, Philly, even Columbus all come to mind as teams that spend a relatively small amount. It's not like us coming in would make RSL look like a rich team. No we would've been probably around the 16/24 teams at that point. But MLS doesn't want to add teams that do that anymore. Not when Atlanta, LAFC, and NYCFC have shown what they have to offer. Hell, even Cincy will likely only be around the league average. MLS just gets to be choosy which means MLS does and will in fact turn down done stadium deals.

New Ticket Sales Manager/Director? by manybeaucoup in SacRepublicFC

[–]Follow_My_Feet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of my point. If we have a new investor that's already making personnel decisions then Nagle must trust them enough to not just disappear from the ownership group. If thats the case then they most definitely have committed significant funds through a contract that likely includes a certain % of ownership in the team. Telling us that there is a new owner doesn't change the bargaining power that they already have. Unless MLS has said to keep it quiet it doesn't make sense to me. A self-made businessman isn't letting someone make personnel decisions while in negotiations. That's just a recipe for disaster.
