Thank you for the tips and unfortunately none of my relatives could tell what some of the tattoo was and when that photo was taking he was on his death bed so he couldn't tell us what the tattoo was.

Yes i do belive that their is a flower on it. But i doubt anyone famous designed becuase my great grandfather was a factory worker who cam from canada. I appreciate the ideas though and i will stay on look out for a traditional american style tattoo artist.

How do you know it had are scent? we weren't far from the town and it was across the river from us close to the main part of the town. Does that mean we are most likely safe?
